  1. To all of you who wish to know the new rankings: http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/grad/rankings/rankindex_brief.php
  2. ditto! I think the big vs small envelope was true for undergrad. I don't remember receiving a small acceptance letter for undergrad. And I have never received a big rejection letter.
  3. My guess is that the EE Grad Admissions was waiting for the visit day (yesturday) to assess turnout and determine if they can make a few more admits.
  4. Students go on spring break but faculty/staff still work!
  5. It's okay if you don't plan on doing the PhD. But you might have to support yourself for 2 years during the MS degree.
  6. Yeah. So I guess, if one were to pursue the waitlist option, the 'smartest' thing would be to accept an offer (including aid) from another school. And then if one were admitted after waitlist, one would withdraw their offer (not an easy/ethical thing) and then accept Stanford's offer...without aid, of course, since waitlisted admits typically are not solicited for aid. No thanks. I will go to another school, with aid!
  7. Check your email. I'm waitlisted there. "We will need your reply by *22 April 2005*. If we do not receive a reply, we will assume you do not wish to be placed on the Wait List." April 22? That's too far out!
  8. it's friday and im still waiting on stanford! what gives? it's 2pm PST!
  9. Congrats! still waiting for my email...one way or another!
  10. Congrats! How did you learn of your UIUC decision?
  11. to think we paid $100 USD for that application! well..at least i did.
  12. After speaking to someone in Stanford's EE Grad Admissions office: We are still in the process of finalizing our decisions. You should hear from us by Friday, at the latest.
  13. I'm in the same position...hopefully we'll hear from them soon. If I do not hear from them today, I will call them tomorrow to find out the status of their decisions. If you are in the same position, I suggest you to do the same, especially since they self-imposed this deadline of March 14th. Best of luck!
  14. Yes that is. But not to go OT...I saw a stanford admit in the EECS section of whogotin....I'm still waiting (as is everyone else, i suppose)
  15. According to whogotin, there's a stanford eeadmit out there, who rcvd an email yesturday....
  16. We should hear tomorrow, or Monday at the latest. I haven't heard from them since their FAQ email last month.
  17. Sorry to hear about that....my condolences... What program was this for?
  18. Well I received the acceptance 2/18 (so that was okay) but only found out about the visit day today...
  19. ucsd campus is beautiful, i loved it when i visited
  20. jimuf, when was your friend notified about the visit day? i was notified today (rcvd admit email in late feb), which gives me one week to make travel arrangements. airfares are quite high at this point...im quite annoyed. btw, i applied to EE MS
  21. Received a phone call earlier today from the department, inviting me to their visit day next Friday. Kind of last minute...gives me one week to make travel arrangements. The person who called me said that there would be a smaller visit day the following Friday. Was anyone else invited to their visit day?
  22. Applied for EE at Stanford, asking for aid. Order: Fellowship, RA, TA. I don't think it will affect decision. It's difficult to get aid...
  23. Yeah, good luck! Still waiting on Stanford! Gosh, I would think at least SOME of us (well, more than just one or two) would have heard by now! 10 more days...
  24. It's hidden at http://www.eecs.mit.edu/contact.html. No sarcasm there, took me a good 15 min to find it. Would figure they want to put it on the EECS Admissions page rather than the main page. I didn't get in either. Graduate Admissions questions? Call: 617 253-4603
