  1. I don’t think it makes much sense to choose a school that has worse advising because they have a higher rank. First of all, the US News ranking is a weird metric to use in my opinion, and if your goal is to do good economics, which it should be if you’re pursuing a PhD, then the school with better advising should be chosen every time.
  2. Although I did not go, I know that some waitlisted candidates did attend the visit day which I believe already occurred.
  3. I’m more curious about whether I got in. They said administrative details are forthcoming.
  4. Most likely, yes. If you're in Stern, then I would imagine some of your advisors should be from Stern. But I don't think the program would prevent you from working with professors in the economics department.
  5. Ali Yurukoglu is at Stanford GSB and Eliot Lipnowski is currently at Columbia. NYU Stern has a small cohort, so I would not agree. They have 2 - 3 students a year. Seems comparable to top universities. Like @sickosaid, it should be a really good place for students interested in IO with Dickstein, Cabral, Conlon, etc.
  6. They sent me an offer last night around 3 AM ET. I was the person on GC.
  7. Why is it not a formal offer? What do you mean by this?
