  1. Another point, be careful about ICCIT or ICECE conferences in bangladesh. Although both of them are enlisted in IEEE site, however they are regarded as crap. No one even heard of them.
  2. I also agree with Black, doing an MS in some other reputed uni will be a plus point before going to PhD in Ivy Leagues. Better try to publish in IEEE/ACM standard conferences.
  3. In bd, only 2 students/year (on average) take CS GRE. You have to go to india to take the test. bad luck. I am facing the same problem.
  4. The CUHK link needs to be revised. It is really funny that they excluded IEEE Transaction on Evolutionary Computation (3.78; IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation) in AI List, moreover, they included IEEE Trans. on Systems, Man & Cybernetics in "Leading". But this journal is considered as a crap and even it is easier to publish papers in IEEE Trans on Systems Man & Cybernetics than in IEEE CEC or ACM GECCO conference. Even I couldnt find "Evolutionary Computation" Journal from MIT press. LOL
  5. Hi all, Can any plz help me evaluating my profile for PhD in CS (possibility of full funding) in any decent universities in US. I am planning to take my GRE in July. Undergrad GPA: 3.80/4.00 GRE Powerprep score: Q 750, V 520 Doing Masters by research at the University of Melbourne (finishing this august) Research field: Evolutionary Multiobjective Optimization Publications: During MS: 1 in IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation (fully peer reviewed paper) 2 in ACM Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference (One is a fully peer reviewed paper, another one is a workshop paper) 1 in ACM/IFIP/USENIX Middleware Conference 2007 (peer reviewed Workshop paper) During undergrad: 10 publications in different field (Most of them are peer reviewed, but conferences were small). only 1 of them is directly related to my MS research. No journal paper Collaborating with GRIDS Lab (http://www.gridbus.org) Two possible strong LOR from my supervisors. thnx
  6. So if someone has a good number of research publications in reputed journal or conference, in that case will they overlook GRE scores ?? my question, what kind of qualification is actually needed (if someone wants to do research degree)?? 1. very high GPA ? 2. Work experience in relevant research field ? 3. good publications in targeted field of research ? 4. good records in international programming contest ? 5. with no GRE??? or anything else??
  7. Hi, Plz look at this link (dept of EECS): http://http://www.eecs.mit.edu/grad/faqs.html Goto section 13, it says "GRE is not required". and look at the department-wise requirements borchure: http://web.mit.edu/admissions/graduate/pdfs/MIT_department_info.pdf It also says the same thing, "GRE not required". I was wondering why...

    Series

suppose ur equation is, ak = ak-1 + 4 the general rule is that nth term = first term + (n-1) X difference between each pair hope that it will work.
  9. hi, 1. depedent of --> dependent on 2. ommit "so", "so that" generally means the relationship between upcoming consequence and its cause. cause + "so that" + consequence. agian, so + adjective + that + clause. this form is OK, but does not sound good in the example sentense. thanx
  10. Hi, I got my TOEFL scored card (260/5.0) and there was a character mistaken from my name! panic seized me. I mailed to ETS but they replied 7 days after. The problem was a really silly. Their space for the examinee's name is limited and my name was too long to fit in that!. I thought I would have to retake the test since I was getting almost sure about the flaw in my registration during filling up. Anyway I will have to use that score card(name with mistaken character). So guys, whoever falls in a situation like me. Don't panic. thanx!
  11. Hi, I have got the score, 260. L: 26, S/W:26(5.0) and R: 26, but my fate is that there is a character ommitted from my name in original score report. a typing mistake. what should I do now? will I have to retake the test? plz help me.. plz.:(
  12. Hi, I have got the score, 260. L: 26, S/W:26(5.0) and R: 26, but my fate is that there is a character ommitted from my name in original score report. a typing mistake. what should I do now? will I have to retake the test? plz help me.. plz.:(
  13. "There may be more than one median: for example if there are an even number of cases then there is no unique middle value. Notice, however, that half the numbers in the list are less than or equal to either of the two middle values, and half are greater than or equal to either of the two values, and the same is true of any number between the two middle values. Thus either of the two middle values and all numbers between them are medians in that case" - wikipedia so it is not possible to find the value of Y. thanx
  14. hi hainp, 3. If u want to use "compared" then it will be better to use "compared to", in this case, the use of gerund makes it sound good. 2. "in which she often makes her family members (an object )", so "her subjects" sounds better. subject + make + something + object [Mr. x is making y as (his) z]. i think it makes more simpler. thanx
  15. 1. that make up --> that makes it up. "grains" or "particles" is not the subject here, rather than the whole phrase, "size of the grains or particles" is the subject. 2. u r right 3. u r right 4. "meanwhile" means "the time being". so it hardly fits with the meaning of the sentence. thanx
  16. thanks a lot ziyod.. for ur mental support.. take care
