  1. No multiple marriages, NJIT! It seems like lucks counts a lot. Keep your fingers crossed for me. It is very difficult to explain on what criteria VO officers reject visa applications. My same older brother who is working and living in usa sponsored my parents in 2000 and they got a 5 year visit visa. The reason of their trip was to see the health of their ailing elder daughter who was residing in USA but she married to a US citizen. So she was not a non-immigrant person. VO asked three questions from my father and he answered them confidently and honestly. VO: What is the purpose of your trip? father: to see my sick daughter Vo: How many sons and daughters do you have in pakistan? Father: I have 4 sons and 3 daughters. Vo: What are they doing? Father: All of them are studying...said with a lot of emphasis... :) Vo: Congrats! You are approved of usa visa.... In case of my Aunt who applied for visit visa too..she wanted to see her sick son and she showed bank balance in her bank counts in pakistan and in American bank accounts as her late husband was a successful businessman in usa. Vo: rejected her application on the basis of that her sponsor was not living in USA. and she was sponsoring by herself.
  2. BTW, any good tips for a good sleep at night before an interview? I'll go for the interview with a positive frame of mind not a desperado for an American visa. I am not worried about the final outcome of the interview. I'll tell you what happens on wednesday. Thanks for your wishes and tips.
  3. My older brother Amir Khan who entered into USA on Jan 1996 on F1 visa for his master studies after completing his studies he transfered his visa status into working visa and got a greencard. Premanent resident info is also mentioned on my application form. He'll also get his passport by the end of december but he mentioned only permanant resident not citizen of usa on my application form. My another brother Asim Khan who entered into usa on f1 visa on August 2002 and he got a scholarship. His student visa will expire on decmber 2006. He is currently doing a course at UC Berkerley. He is not working and he'll be coming back to pakistan once he completes his studies there. Because he is a professor at NED(a famous engineering university in my home town karachi) and he is currently on leave. So one is H1B visa to work and one is F-1 at Berkeley? Correct? Absolutely correct.
  4. One is working for a cellular company who is also sponsoring me and the other one is doing a course at UC Berkerley on scholarship. I'll show a proof of his admission acceptance form if a VO needs to see it. so, simba what you think?
  5. Please tell me what's the exact relation you have with them.I mean they are son of...... ? They are my real brothers. We all have the same mother and father. so when a VO officer will ask me " do u have any relatives in usa"? I have no Aunts, cousins and uncles living there in usa. so what should i say: two older brothers or no relatives. my older brothers told me that relatives are your family memebrs not uncles or cousins. so say two older brothers if a vo asks you as question about relatives in usa.
  6. This is the respect Americans show for foreigners....prime suspect :)
  7. I am not disrespecting them. It is just that I have a wrong concept in my mind because English is not my native language. I consider blood related people as family members and relatives are like cousins, aunts and uncles for me. So Thanks for clearing things up. And for me going to US is not the end of the world. I see the same sun, moon and stars just like people do out there in America. So here it goes my philisophical answer. lol... And I can see a crap hollywood movie in 25 Rs than in 25 us dollars...lol I am not disrespecting them. It is just that I have a wrong concept in my mind because English is not my native language. 8. hello my two older brothers live in USA ... Are they considered as relatives?
  9. I have gone through above links. Yes. Funding yourself from different sources is a weak case. Also, boyfriend and friends are sponsoring you is the worst case scenario. You can not trust them. Friends and boyfriends can leave you when you need them most and there is a saying that goes: Blood is thicker than water. So your real family members and parents are your true friends. My older brother is sponsoring me, not boyfriend, girlfriend...etc ... my father is a retired officer and my mother died last year so if there is anyone who can sponser me that is my older brother. All this info is mentioned on all visa application forms. I don't speak lies. Truth is truth, If I try to speak a lie VO will judge the impression of it from my face. Getting a visa is a pure luck. I could not describe into words how my first older brother went to states in 1996. God was helpful on him during that day. He became a rich man now from that little opportunity. I'll tell you the rest of the story about him after my visa interview. His name is Amir khan. my classes will kick off on August 28 and my intended date to arrive in USA is August 15. This brother name is asim khan who applied for visa in May 2002 and got a 4 year study visa even though he was going for a 2-3 length of his master studies. He was an assistant prof of Electronics department At NED which is located in karachi. I don't know how he got the scholarship. He never told me abt it. If I am not wrong, my bro got the visa just because he had got the scholarship and I guess it was difficult form him to get a visa since the period of 9/11 attacks has gone by for one year if someone else was sponsoring him.... I don't know man...
  10. Please post all links of his posts here if you can. I'l try to search them as i get some time today. He is 27 years old. He went there on scholarship and will be coming back to pakistan within a month and join his univ as a professor and I'll stay on campus. The other brother who is sponsoring me works in Dallas and has been living there for the last 10 years. His current balance shows $246,000 and I think that would be enough amount to convince VO as far as my financial resources is concerned. And you are right about questions regarding brothers stuyding at the same college.
  11. Hello Brother thereI am from karachi, will be doing my Bachelors in MIS(Management information system) at California state univ, long beach where Steven Speilberg also graduated in film and the producer of X-files. I'll be coming to Islamabad on Tuesday and will Hvae my intevriew on wednesday this week. So wish me best of luck. Please don't delay your case., Apply for visa as soon as possible. My older brother got visa for his masters in Electrical Engineering at CSULB and he received his passport after one month and a half. My friend applied 3 months back for his student visa and he got his passport in 5 days as his visa officer told him the period of receiving the passport with an issued visa.

    Ielts

what band did you score? I'll give one more peice of advice. Don't take reading section easily, must go through a lot of practice tests esp in this particular section. Choosing best headings for a paragrapah and No/no given/yes questions can be a pain in the butt.
  13. I think so it is easier. I aced the test without any problems. I scored overall 7.0 band which was more than enough for my undergraduate studies. L:7.0, R:6.5: W:7.0:S:7.0 is my score range.
  14. Does this SAT reflect true abilities of a student? I don't think so. I scored 1500 over all. I prepared for three weeks and spent 4 hours a day. I was in a hurry so I didn't have any tricks up my sleeve. I had a slight headache during the exam. It was my first time to take the test. I just dont want to reveal what math score i got. I'm very sad cause I wasted money for nothing. Babypurin, where did you write a post about those universities that didn't accept SAT scores but had a good repo? give me a link. Thanks in advance,.

I just wish i would fullfil my college's requirements. http://www.utdallas.edu i want to study there cause it is located near my elder's bro house. it is not a bad univ at all. dude what's your guess about your score? am not too optimistic about my math score.
  18. hi there i have to write only one essay on one of those topics and i have to describe what my future goals are. what i want to be. i am nervous. i don't know how i can write a convincing essay. i'm applying for university of Texas at dallas cause my elder brother lives there. he has his own cellular company there. he is the one who will be taking care all of my expenses and everything of that sort. http://www.utdallas.edu dude, if you have any idea how i can write a convincing essay. 19. Essay Topic Topic C (all applicants): What additional personal information do you wish to be considered in our decision? For example: Exceptional hardship, temporary failure, or personal experience that has shaped your abilities or academic credentials Personal responsibilities Exceptional achievements or special talents such as poetry, artwork, bilingual proficiency, etc. Educational goals and choice of major Ways you have associated with the university. I'm just wondering if I have to write an essay on each topic separately or just blend all these above mentioned points into one. I have to submit my essays online and there is a template given at my univ official site where i can type them. The thing is that there is no info mentioned regarding my above curiosity. All it is mentioned that you essay(s) should not be more than 120 lines. And write the topic name first and then type it. what's your take? i'm thinkng i have to write separately on each topic. Pls hurry up for answering my query as i have to write them as soon as possible.
  20. dude kallis sucks big time. he sucked big time in super series. He and lare had better say ta ta to world cricket and concentrate on better things instead.
  21. my essay prompt is not currently available at their site. Our invigilators warned us not to reveal today's essay prompt through any means. Don't mention it on internet forums....etc :D BTW, I chose college board for sending SAT score directly to my universities. I'm just wondering if they send it to them before oct 24.
  22. I took my test in karachi, pakistan. I may have done well in writing and reading sections. math test seemed to me a bit harder and i skipped 3 questions overall. essay topic wasn't that hard either. It was like 'people should try to keep some things private?' I wrote an okay essay. I agreed "martin luther's passage was a kind of pain.' Only time will tell what score i get. Till then I want to feel relaxed.
  23. hi babypurin, sorry for a late reply. Thanks for everything you have provided to me. I am going to take my test on OCT 8. Not many days are left. I need your prayers now.:( I'm just curious to know if I want to score 600 in math section how many questions I can leave as unanswered. One more question I don't know how to solve a math problem after using different methods. If I am also unable to minus a choice for an educated guess then what I should do with that Q. Pls reply me soon. Asad
  24. Guys thanks for reading. i hope you guys didn't consider me a terrorist cause I'm from a muslim country. Anyways have fun. i am outta here. Asad
  25. I'm new to this SAT. I need some help from SAT experts like Baby purin. Here is the delimma I am facing right now. My uni has accepted my toefl score for my undergraduate studies as it required only 213 and i scored 220, plus 5.0 in TWE. For my admission I also need to submit either ACT or SAT scores so I have decided now to take both tests as they are not overlapped and I can prepare for them, hopefully. The thing is that I'm conatcing local test prep centers in karachi, pakistan. Some of them told me that I was too late to join their classes as I needed to enroll 3 months before. They ccouldn't prepare me for the test. I contacted others like princetonreview and they were charging frigging huge money and for the same price I can take 2 SATs again. I was hopeless. But I decided to join this forum and tried to read each and every posts of the members. After reading recommendations for books over here, i decided to buy these books. 1. the new guide for the SAT by college board. 2. 10 Real SATs. 3. Cracking the new SAT review by princeton. 4. Kaplan's math workbook only. I notice that I may not have huge trouble in writing and reading sections as I have been reading and looking up words in the English language for the last three years. What I am worried about most: that is math. I don't know how to start and where to start. Which portion of math section is more harder? What should I aim at first? I have only one month to prepare myself. Any tips and suggestions are more than welcome. thanks for reading. Asad
