  1. CMU no question. Advisor matters for PhD, not school.
  2. It looks like Stanford made many MS decisions for MS applicants today. I know a few students who have gotten in this way. Hopefully tomorrow (pi-day) will give us PhD applicants a favorable outcome! -phpguru
  3. According to Stanford, admissions decisions will be made this coming week. You will want to get an email anytime before March 16th. On the 16th they will send out the rejection emails (according to the trends last year).
  4. Stanford - EE - MS/PhD - waiting Berkeley - EE - MS/PhD - rejected (3/6/2007 by email) MIT - EE - PhD - rejected (2/28/2007 by email response) Cornell - EE - PhD - waiting UCSD - EE - MS/PhD - accepted (with 3 years aid) (2/8/2007 by email) Michigan - EE - MS/PhD - accepted (2/5/2007 by email) UCSB - EE - MS/PhD - accepted (3/5/2007 by email) Concentration: Devices or maybe RFIC EE Major, 3.75 GPA, Q:800, V:560, 5.0AWA, 1 summer research program, 1 year biophysics research, 1 co-author publication Am I good enough for Stanford? I'm going crazy waiting for admission!
  5. Actually, I faxed them my GRE scores also on Nov 11. After sending them the fax, ETS says it takes 10 days which would be November 28 (Since 23rd and 24th are holidays). Plenty of time. Relax! I am also applying for Stanford EE. Good luck! -phpguru
  6. Thanks FedUp! Much appreciated. I'm applying all schools for PhD and I have regrets while in the program, I'll switch. But my focus right now is definitely the PhD. I've talked with a few professors and I have now got 8 schools: Stanford, Berkeley, MIT, Cornell, UCSB, UCLA, Caltech (a bit unsure about this one), UIUC Is 8 too many?
  7. Thanks, and yes, php is one of my favorites ;]
  8. Hey everyone! I was hoping to get a suggestion my list of universities to apply. I have taked with a professor and have come up with the following list: Profile: Degree Desired: PhD. I'm applying PhD but I'm unsure of MS or PhD (50/50) GPA: 3.74/4 (3.83/4 in engineering) GRE: 800q 560v 5.0awa School: top 20 EE Research: 1 journal publication 1 calendar year working in biophysics Just started work in RF Circuit Design and III-V MOSFETs Work Exp: Worked 1 summer in a top company. Area: Not completely sure but: Device Physics/Ckt Design or Opto. I want schools which are decent in all three in case I decide to switch. Recs: I don't know how to rate them but one is a research professor, the other one is a research professor that I'm just starting with (but I have taken classes with him) and third is a professor I took once before but knows me very well. Stanford MIT UC Berkeley UC Santa Barbara UC Los Angeles Cornell University What are your comments on those schools with my profile? Any other good schools in that area I should look into? Any comments welcome! Thanks, phpguru
  9. Hey everyone! Congratulations to everyone on their admits this year and I wish you the best of luck. I am an EE junior applying for Fall 2007 and I'm in the midst of trying to narrow down my specializations. I am interested in optics/photonics/fiber and I was wondering if you guys know the top schools for research in that area. I will ask my professors as needed but I want to get a general idea. - phpguru
  10. Hey everyone! I was wondering what EE schools will consider you for a MS if you do not get into their PhD program. I thought that Stanford does this but I was wondering if you guys know any more as most of you have gone through the admissions process. Thanks! phpguru
