  1. dafrk, imho send only the required number of reference as mentioned by the uni unless the additional reference adds something very strong and very different to your profile. If it's like the other references, there is no point.
  2. Sokol, your other interview might already be thru with by now, but I was wondering if you should go to another interview with a brand new I 20? Coz am sure your refusal and the reason for it must have been recorded in the database, so getting another I 20 with diff details might not strengthen your case. just my two cents. All the best.
  3. synergy, I would say if your work ex is good and if you can briefly explain bout your physical disability in your SOP, nothing like it...that cancels off the effect of your GPA and gives a positive outlook to your application (or so I hope). I myself had some challenges in my college days and while those didnt effect my GPA, they effected the course of my life a lot including certain vital choices. Explained bout it in my SOP's and I have been admitted to a masters program at a great B school! So give it your best shot! All the best :)

  5. Synergy, good SOP's and good recos might be the key! Can you explain about that personal problem in your essays?
  6. Frankly ochre, once she told me I didnt have much of a chance of making it to any good uni, I decided not to visit them anymore. So cant really say how much they can help...
  7. Ochre, USEFI is good in sense that it will probably show you the way, plus their libraries have a big collection of books! Lots of seminars organized so tons of info available there, its upto you, how deep can you dig to get the info. Personaly my experience with them was horrible...my counsellor told me (in a 15 minute long interview where in she attended 5 phone calls and looked at her watch at least a dozen times - in her defense there was some meet organized next day) anyways, she told me I didnt stand much of a chance and to apply later...I got into a great uni with funding tho! So my point being, it depends on u, but I wouldnt rely too much on their counseling or whatever they say. Saw lots of GRE guys flocking the delhi USEFI though, so maybe they know more of the science people (I was from the GMAT lot.) If you have yet to take the GRE go have a peek at the library, lots of books there so u wont have to buy! And I would say 7th july isnt all that far away, u can surely wait for 10 days time and meanwhile do research on your own right?
  8. Wow, congrats prusd!! Better late then never eh? Have fun at columbia :)
  9. Mystery man, I couldnt understand, why do you have to email them that you have sent in your official scores? Have you applied already? Anyways, one thing (based on experience), try to avoid asking schools what your "chances of admission" are. They dont answer that question and they dont like it either. Regarding financial aid, if you ask that, am sure they will politely let you know "please lookn at xyz link on our website." Letting them know your profile in brief would be okay. Hope this helps :)
  10. Dishearted, it takes time for people to respond, maybe this post has had views and no body replied coz they might not have been from CS or might not have been able to offer advice (like me). Another thing, you have only posted your GRE scores, as far as I know it takes whole lot of other info for others to even remotely predict/let u know where u stand. so u might want to include stuff like whats yr bachelors education in, from where, your GPA, awards, honours, extra curriculars etc. You might also want to look in a bit in the other threads, see the profiles of those who actualy got admitted for Fall 2006. Reading most threads gives you more info than say any remote person dropping by and leaving a post. Also give it time, everyone has stuff to do, someone will surely answer you soon.
  11. Damn! all good ones are taken and rest are gay! no good men left in the world eh?
  12. haddy, can answer question 2. You dont need to take TOEFL. Most unis waive it off if you have studied in or worked (for min 2 yrs i think) in a country where english is the first language. so there ya go :)
  13. lawrencel, if your lucky the 50% of married population might be all guys and that still leaves the 30% female population for the 20% single male population.
  14. Nope. No details, I just remember bout reading of it in the newspaper last year.
  15. Srini, I think they consider the GMAT for the 1 year executive mba course.
