  1. yeah I second JKRIS,the VISA is not that much of a hassle as it is made out to be.Good Luck.
  2. bcoz IIT is not a complete University. Also it's ranked around 50 in World for ENGR.
  3. u have to divide by 25 & not 20.BTW don't do any conversions the Universities will do it themselves.
  4. u should look for European schools & not US ones. ur age is a potential problem. Most of Biz schools will question why now? second ur extra curriculars r a weak point.come on even u know Secondary school Volunterring doesn't count much in MBA.Also ur final rank in BE/BTech. counts & not individual ones.I'll recommend to go for 1 yr course in INSEAD,LBS,IMD.
  5. hmm U Penn! Why do u want to go into U PENN? Have u researched about it? U Penn doesn't take many students into BS/MS as it's not strong in it & also it's acceptance rate is around 12-15%.I doubt u'll make it to USC with 74%.ur GRE is OK. Same goes the case with UCSB.At this point u'll get an admit from NCSU. All the Best.
  6. hi schuds, ur 83% is good..If it's possible try to give GRE once more If u get 1450-1500 in GRE I'll suggest G Tech,UIUC,Michigan,Purdue. II Tier-Wisconsin,Maryland,TAMU,UT-Austin,Minnesota,Penn State. Good Luck
  7. Yes u've rightly said there's no wow factor. Try to create a decent profile & leave the rest to ur fate. On the other side I think U should apply to Top 25-35 schools to get a realistic chance of getting an admit.
  8. haven't heard anything about it.Search on the net & try to find out about it. If u have further questions, pls. ask.
  9. I'll second that.Try to get some frantic Research assignments. With ur score U stand a Good chance in TOP 10-50 Universities. All the Best
  10. hi, U have a good Gre score(not xtra ordinary though). remember CMU is No.1 in CS.so that's difficult.Also G Tech,UT-Austin & UIUC r ranked TOP 10 so that's also difficult.Remember difficult doesn't meen that u'll not get slected.It's just that chances of acceptance r low.All the best.
  11. ya u can get into all of those xcept mayb TAMU & Indina U. all the best.
  12. Well frankly I think Michigan & Purdue mayb slightly difficult with a 1260 score but u never know.So all the best
  13. yeah u can chage urfield.I thin u'll have to give CS-GRE for that. all the best
  14. princeton is not renowed for ENGR. & it won't take u with 1320. try in other universities.u'll surely get admit in them
  15. yeah u have good chance in all of them. just that the work-ex doesn't count much in MS. all the best
  16. first of all kit_walker SEARCH HBS's site. The average work Ex they require is 4-5 yrs.U need to give ur GMAT first.also don't forget u r from the IT pool from India. lastly never contact any Harvard professor. They won't reply u. Look for Top 25-35 Biz schools If u want to get in Remember H,W,S,Sloan,K,GSB-Chicago take only 4-5 students from India.
  17. frankly speaking IUPUI,Rice & Rutgers r not in the same league as UT Austin & Georgia.IUPUI is a joint campus of Indiana University-Bloomington & Purdue University-West Lafyette.there r other campuses too in Colombus-Indiana.Purdue operates the school of Engr. where as Indiana operates the rest.It does not have Phd programs(that's my guess).hope this helps u. btw-How do I know all this 'coz I'm in Purdue-West Lafayette.
  18. BITS Pilani is ranked 7th in India.here's the rankings- 1.IIT Kharagpur 2.IIT Kanpur 3.IIT Bombay 4.IIT Madras 5.IIT Delhi 6.IIT Roorkee 7.BITS Pilani 8.IIT Guwahati BIT is also ranked quite high up with NIT's.BIT is Birla Insitute of Tech.It also has a campus in Dubai.
  19. hi haggard, here's the link. The University is unknown but maybe it can be of some help. www.ashland.edu/iss.India.html One correction though-I didn't see the chart thoroughly(my mistake) & it's for MBA(but it won't make a difference). When I saw it more thouroughly the chart was given as an example(canbe of some help).Although it's mentioned that u can convert ur percentages into GPA with the help of WES(World Education Services). Post Edit:-I have found a new page & read it thouroughly. It gives nice details about US,Canada & Indian Education system. It also demonstrates how to convert ur marks in GPA & the shortcomings of conversion to GPA. http://www.imahal.com/mentor/archives/d001/q000030.htm I sincerely hope that this link helps.
  20. yes I meant Purdue(got it right this time!!!). It was a spelling mistake. Thanks for correcting me. Haggard you can also send ur marksheets or transcripts to universities without converting them into GPA.Just wanted to add that a First Division in India is equal to 4.00 GPA in US(I had read it in a University's website;don't remeber the name now)
  21. U can visit http://www.wes.org they calculate ur GPA & send it to universities just like ETS does it for ur GRE.But wes charges fees. I think ritwik is more qualified to answer ur querry as I did not have to convert my scores to GPA.But I know wes does it for Graduate students.
  22. thanks haggard for the reply.I am going to do a BS in EE in Purude-West Lafayette. u may think that I'm doing a BS & still advisiong u,well I only suggest the universities that one should apply to(which will accept you).I have gained this knowledge from my experience of applying. The Universities req. projects, teamwork, leadership qualities,gr8 SOP,& a gr8 LOR for MS.remember GRE(& SAT & GMAT)only identifies the clusters of Universities that u can apply to & nothing else. If u have any more querrries pls ask me.
  23. yes u should(not definate) get admit in all of them 'coz of ur GRE Q score of 800. all the best for ur admissions.
  24. U can also add Rice,UC-Davis to ur 50-50 list & UC-SB(ranked 20) to ur dream list.I don't think that u can bank upon U Mich with a 1250,although U can try in Wisconsin-Madison(ranked between 15th & 17th on various lists) & wait for a miracle to happen :)
