Hi, Am Sid frm delhi. My GRE and TOEFL scores are 1350 and 270 , essay i got 4.5 Well i gave my GRE on 2nd sept, thts 2 months back...i jus came back to chk hw r others doin and also wish u all a very Happy Diwali! Its a Team Effort here tht helps each one of us, it helped me too. My team competitors were O god, dont remember their names, it bin quite a time since the last time i looged in here. But surely sincere tkanks to ERIK, ILLUZIONS, ASH (i hope this name is right), GRE GAL, ETC ETC ........... well my mail wud also be here, last one on 2nd sept....i was so excited dta day, thought i wud sleep the max after workin so hard for 3 months....but dat day i was ina eurekaa...my body dint let me feel sleepp :)) And now when i see a new word, i can sometimes recollect dat word n its meaning but naturally with time, im tending to lose my grip over GRE VOCAB :)) however, it surely has helped me writing creative writing samnples tht i wrote for sedning to univs offering filmamking I want to apply for Filmmaking from US , thts MFA (Master of Fine Arts )program. I think it wont be easy applyin there directly as i dont hv any prior film exp, im a btech in comp science evn my parents r tellin me to MS but i cant 4go my passion. So i hv decided to go for MS and then MFA from teh same univ. Till now, i hv shortlisted USC n SFSU.....i wud prefer CA but wont get any scholarships/funding inspite of a decent score Im havin trouble shortlisting univs at other places....bcuz all this time i was focussing on MFA univ and NOT MS ones....now i gotta do both...both shud be gud in same univ....cost factor apart (at teh moment) Request you all if you cud help me in thsi regard. Hi Sangfroid, Congrats for that awesome score. Each day someone or the other among TM'ians gives his/her GRE. I m sure we all are heading for states, wow ! All this excites me to make a movie....3 frends studyin for GRE, come to prometric centre...r TMians, reach america, one wants to come back , second doesnt, third has mixed feelings.....wht happens in the end.......(Guys i m dyin to shoot in the prometric centre......i know ill do it one day) Hey Sangfroid, i know ull agree with me tht every journey has a destination. Hey Vasan, Did u give ur GRE today at (8th sept) at Delhi centre, 1 pm cuz my toefl was frm 5 pm, n if u r the one, i heard u discusiing the same score with a gentleman sittin on stairs....well i jus went inside for my exam. Well as far as this is concerned /* This is a score which can be neither celebrated nor worried. */ ------> I really dunno wht stops u frm partyin or crying, atleast i partied till 3 in the morning with 1350. Wht to say, u gave no justification for this. I dunno to console with u or congratulate u cuz u seem to be havin no feelings :( /* I am going to apply for Ph.D. I am doing M.Tech in Production engineering in I.I.T. Delhi. Topic was easy dude. Wht gift wud u like to give a child? camera, football etc or wht explain with reasons? Overall it wus a gr8 exp for TOEFL, already had given GRE so wsnt feelin tht nervous. My timings wee frm 5-8 pm, i wuz feelin very sleepy and thsty y i guess also scored less in listening. Evn tht centre was very chilly, was feelin very cold. Frequently visisted teh loo :) , it wuz jus 4 days prep.....i think i mentioned i jus got max 203 in PP, hv got more thn i expected.... m goin out for partyin tomoorow night.....i guess this is teh way to njoy! So Guys, Am back jus frm TOEFL test: My Score are as follows Listening: 24 (Jus cudnt understand wht those ppl were saying, cuz mayb evrytime in my head i wuz feeling some ROCK song being played, so pls dont listen to any music on D-day. Guys: Beware they r really showin HOT pics of gals in toefl, i rather shud hv concentrated on wht they were sayin than.......jus kiddin) Structure: 12-29 (i dunno whre i went wrong) Reading: 28 (I was confident tht i wud get 30 but still some silly mistakes, its much better cuz in PP never got more than 24) Total: 213-270 My PP score was max 183..........so i guess this time again i got more thn expected....GOD u r gr8! Its unfortunately become so usual for each one of us to start crying as soon as we get our scores....Be content with ur score cuz u got whtever u deserved....no one ever discusses his enjoyment except may be ones like me Its quite a decent score, i mus say.... Everythin's in ur reach and if USC isnt in ur destiny,u will NEVER get it. This world is uncertain, u get wht u do. Jus apply n keep teh rest to GOD! Hi Blase, I hv sent my scores to USC,FSU,TEXAS - AUSTIN, CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY. Besides wud be aaplyin to UCLA,Columbia coll , chicago n columbia univ, NY. I personally feel tht oen shud follow his passion n dreams cuz i dont wanan regret later. 10 yrs down the lane, i know i wud be earning big bucks for myself in IT sector , this hwever may not be possible in Filmaking. I jus think i m made for films, i wud be dead if there were no films, films wud be my medium to project reality and help me to connect with the souls of ppl who associate with my film..In otehr words, I wud to get ppl together with cinema. But atleast i wud be hvin creative satisfaction. I want to amke my own identity in this world. There r many enngineers like me who too wud like to go for cretaive side of filamkin but fear......I too had apprehensions but therz no lookin back now. I hope one day like Infosys,TCs etc, my compamny too comes for collge campus palcements selecting creative talents n nuture them...Finally want to come bakc frm US n make films here, ofcourse after enough exp in "Hollywood". I hv plenty of ideas within my so called brain and dont want those ideas to go waste into oblivion, they will definetly come out onde day on teh BIG SCREEN!...Thats a Promise! Hi Coolmavs, I hv discussed thw words , things asked in my GRE. See evn mechwart got THE SAME WORD "salve"......... PP maths ws no where in compariosn to real GRE Luck is also very imp, im saying tht 20% counts and anotehr person in mechwarts mails says tht its 99% :) Well thst an individual perception, to some extent one can agree wirth him too. ppl who hv studeied for jus 1 month, not evn revised barrons properly hv secured 1400.........But therz no substitute to hard work also.... I dont recollect matsh questions, i had 4gotten tht in maths quantitative section has reduced....mine started with first 5 word problems :( In engliosh analogy i rememeber 1) Curt:Words I checked autocratic:power ("relation x is doing/using wrong use of y) 2) gossamer:substance x lacks y Although i mentioned tht i wuz an average student in GRE class, i hv scored 75% aggreagte in engg....Am not tht bad atleast , i felt bad when some of my grp mates at coachin institute doubted my caliber, they still cant beleiev tht i hv 1350.......Luck can only hel;p u till some extent not for the whoel paper I practised RC every day during first two months for 2 hrs on comp, but later strted feelin bored......wht i feel is also ur luck if u get a tough/diffi RC......well i never got any inference question! And for AWA....my topic was "history emphasises a lot on leaders for their acheivements and not the actual ppl (soldiers etc) whose identities get lost etc)...........So wht to do in such a situation, CHAK DE FHATTTE.........hOOR KI CHAIDA! :) [JUS SLOG, WHT ELSE ONE NEEDS] Rgds, Sid
