Econ
Dear All, Please I have one question (I know that it is kind of stupid but my grammar is stupid too so...) I want to write: I have obtained a solid training _____(A) advanced game theory, informational economics, and market imperfection economics _____ (B) Microeconomics II. What follows (A) are topics and what follows (B) is a course name. (A) is it in? (or on) (B) in? Also: the work of X ____ © growth with incomplete markets. What follows © is a topic/research interest ©: is it on? Please Erin, Michael, Dingus give me your precious advise. Please! :)
awhig
Sorry, I am not invited to comment on, but I go for choice B for first sentence. The field you are talking is general. For second "on" will come as you are refereing to specific topic.
Dingus
The first one: To avoid confusion, what about something like this: As part of my Microeconomics II curriculum, I acquired an in-depth understanding of concepts in advanced game theory, informational economics, and market imperfection economics. Avoid repetition. Make it as clear as you would like it to be if you had to read it in say, 5 minutes. For the second one, I'm not sure about the context. It would be helpful if I could see the whole sentence. Why don't you PM me the whole SOP, I might be able to apply my peanut brains to it and suggest something. :) the work of X ____ © growth with incomplete markets. Is it something like: I am especially interested in the research of Dr. Williams on the dynamics of incomplete markets. ?? Just Guessing. :)

I think I would prefer something like '... through/on the Microeconomics II course ...', but it would depend on context. C on Michael

irinka
Hi! I would recommend to rely on corpus, e.g. the BNC or the Word Bank of English and check out the usage of prepositions. You'll get plenty of contexts and examples!
