  11. venture means "to offer at the risk of rebuff, rejection, or censure" For eg, "venture an opinion", means offer an eg at the risk of rebuff or rejection. So ans C fits well.
  12. Hi Varkir, You have an excellent, Quant score. Congratulations! I am sorry the verbal score was not what you had expected. You got 4 to 5 words which were not from Barron's, boy that is giving me the creeps. I have my exam on wednesday.
  13. In the first sentence, "Rapid changes" should be the signal. It could be a word like equivocal, the closest here is transient, which means changing. The latter part of the sentence , the opinions muct be analysed a they are the most "important" (or a similar word which conveys the same meaing in this case "critical") indicators of the state of health of a democratic society. In the second sentence, after reading it you get the feel that business decisions often do something to morals, it they could take it into account while taking decisions or not. Next step is we analyse the answer choices. When you plug in the first choice, it kind of sounds ok. It would mean that ordinary business often did not take morals into account. Word "typically" should indicate that such business decisions are often taken and has a casual tone to it. So it could be a word like unimportant. The second space could be something like "hinder", "cloak" and "impel" works, but "untrammed" cannot be used as it means "free". So we go with "cloak". Next we plug in 2nd choice, you dont say unreliable decision, if it is unreliable then why take it into account at all.Next is 3 and 4. If "unparalled" or "unprecedented" business decisions overlooked certain factor, then you would not call them "unparalled" or "unprecedented" . So now we have eliminated 2, 3 , 4 and 5. Ans is a. Auroville this is the way I derived the answers. However it may not be the ideal way! :)
  14. Strut is used to give support to a strut, in a strut wing structure like in an airplane . Similary we use a guy to reinforce a pylon. Pylon is something on outside of an airplane to give support to somethiing like an engine or missile . And guy is used to reinforce it. We can rule out the others as the analogy is not quite the same. Beam is used for support but not a door. Axle is not to support wheels.
  15. I agree with Vinay, ans E Renounce means to take back. Pledge means to promise. They are opposites. X means not to Y Similarly rescind means to take back. And Order would be to order something, which is the opposite of take back. We can rule out the others as the analogy is not the same. We can exculpate(free from blame) a victim. Similarly desecrate means to desanctify. And Shrine is a holy place. We can or cannot desecarete a shrine.
  16. Thanks Divyesh and Vidu for the info.
  17. Integers x, y , and z are 3 angles of a traingle such that x A) 59 AND 91 B) 59 AND 135 C) 91 AND 178 D) 120 AND 135 E) 120 AND 178 ANS C How to approach a question like this, should we go backwards from the answer?
  18. If x is an odd integer, for which of the following equations must y be an even integer? A) xy = 5 B) x + y = 8 C) x + 2y = 7 D) 2(x+y) = 7 E) 2x + y =6 ans E here I am getting 2 eqns which satisfy the condition C and E How should I narrow it down?
