I can answer some of your questions. It's a no-contest!!! TN visa is definitely easier to acquire compared to H-1B. You can apply for a TN visa anytime so you don't have to wait for the H-1B fiscal year to start. As long as you find an employer to help you with the offer letter you can already pack your bags and cross the border. However, TN visa must be renewed yearly while the H-1B is good for a total of 6 years. Employers usually apply for you with an initial 3 year validity. It's very rare they'd give you one year for it but I've heard of some companies who have done it. Also, what are your long term plans? Do you plan on staying as a Canadian Citizen or maybe get dual citizenship with the US after a few years or when you pass the NAPLEX? The reason I'm asking is that the TN visa might not be for dual intent purposes, meaning it's only for temporary work so I am not sure if there's a pathway for you to become a US immigrant while you're on it. You might be required to change to H-1B later on to pursue permanent residency in the States. So the course of action I suggest you should undertake is; try to get in with a TN visa then just change to H-1B later on when you get to decide where to live permanently. Good Luck!!! What you should put into consideration is the offer, the benefits, the whole contract, etc. The most important of it all are the people you are going to work with. I assume you've talked with the managers? Compare them and analyze their personalities. Which is a better manager? How did they talk to you? Which one is less likely the power tripper? Or maybe the one who would likely empower you to become a manager yourself one day? Lastly, try to visit the stores they were offering you to do your internship and the store where they plan on assigning you when you become licensed. Try to look at the staff and exchange hi and hellos with them. Trust me, people matter and not the company in this case. You can do all of these by asking a deadline on their offers. I am not sure about this ruling. Actually, Mashura might be talkin about the petitioners and not the candidate for H-1B. Companies aren't allowed to submit multiple applications for one candidate but I think the candidate can seek as many sponsors who are willing to file an H-1B peition on his behalf. I believe it's the discretion of the employers if they want to apply their interns for a one year or three year H-1B visa.

Hello guys, As far as I know doing volunteer work on H-4 visa is illegal even if it's not paid because the volunteer work in itself is used as a pre-requisite for employment later on, e.g. Pharmacist Intern completing 1500 hrs. to become a Staff Pharmacist after passing all exams. True volunteer work is purely what it is. You do it for free and without expectations of pay or work, e.g. the above person cleaning the streets instead of working in a Pharmacy. If it's illegal why do independent Pharmacies accept it? It's because mostly if not all don't know anything about it. There is no enforcement to this kind of illegal work which means there are no immigration police scouring the streets and entering pharmacies looking for H-4 workers. It's not a priority. The USCIS and the State Boards of Pharmacy function independently that's why you can still get licensed after doing illegal work. Walgreens is really strict when it comes to immigration laws and they have everything almost covered. They don't take chances. Try other chains and you can get lucky. To others the volunteer work is of no concern. Always remember, rules change too so it's best to call the proper authorities to ask for updates.

Hey guys... i'm on H4 visa and I missed the FY 2007 cap by a day :( and since i have a year of free time I am planning on putting it to good use. As an H4 visa holder, do i need to change to F1 if i plan to take some short courses in a technical college? Also, are H4 visa holders permitted to do volunteer work? Hoping for your reply guys....

I think it should be 5 years of Undergraduate Pharmacy schooling. This would mean Masterals are not included as this is Post Graduate studies. I suggest you call NABP to make sure because you'll never know if we are indeed correct with current information or requirements. Good Luck

There is no fixed deadline in filing for an H-1B petition. However, you have to file it asap because there is a quota mandated for every fiscal year. Filings start in April for an October start date. So if the quota is met, an applicant has to wait for April of next year to apply again. Basically, to start the ball rolling for your H-1B petition you have to find a company to sponsor you for the visa. Good Luck!!!

Hello guys. I had a friend that was also dealing with Walgreens last year. However, she didn't even bother to wait for their call because the company does really move slowly with hiring their interns esp. for H-1B. She actually opted to apply to other Pharmacy chains and got her internship with one of them instead.

naypi is right guys. don't worry about your age. i also know of a lot of people who were hired in their late 30s and 40s. don't let this bother you and concentrate on your studies. goodluck.

hi micmic got your point. its just that most people i know say its unrestricted. well, for example the driver's license. some drivers have restrictions in their licenses. Cant drive two wheeled vehicles or cant drive without spectacles. thats why the license to practice Pharmacy in the Philippines is unrestricted because there aint really any restrictions. well thats what they say. anyway, i bet it wont negate or affect your application with the NABP bec like what you said, theyve already replied to you and didnt mention anything at all abt it. hi hazel... but i only tried to help bec i know something abt it...in your terms "im in the know" lol i have a friend who appeared in court for the same reason/mistake

hazel, how did u get this far without noticing it? Firstly, the PRC should've noticed it. with that kind of problem ul be asked to appear in court before u can take the board exams in the Philippines. I think u should ask NABP coz ur case is unique.

Hello micmic, where did u get your information regarding the Pharmacy License in the Philippines as restricted? Have you applied for FPGEE already?
