  1. Gmatprep was very similar to the actual test. Some of the questions were of similar nature. I had no slope and parabola questions. I also got very similar questions discussed in the forum for quant :)
  2. Actual Gmat: 690 Gmat Prep1: 640 Gmat Prep2: 620 Gmat Prep3: 750 Gmat Prep4: 690 Gmat Prep5: 730
  3. I was preparing for GMAT for 5 weeks but studied seriously only for the last two. I had not much time to work on my verbal. When I initially saw my score... I was disappointed with my verbal score but then again honestly speaking I did not put much effort in verbal as I should have. A few days back I had read something posted by Clintonn that Quant is about scoring the first 25 questions correctly http://www.www.urch.com/forums/gmat-problem-solving/54297-just-finished-another-gmatprep-quant.html I totally agree with him... GMAT quant is only first 25 questions. In my test I ran out of time for the last 4 questions and still scored 49. Verbal I knew I had done badly when I started getting very easy questions around the 26th and the 27th question. It was a clear indication that I had bombed. For all those people who are great at Quant and okay in Verbal: Get your hands on Official Guide, Official Guide verbal Review as well as Manhattan GmatPrep for sentence correction. They rock! Please practice a lot of verbal. I cant help but think that a lilttle bit of more concentration on verbal would have increased my score to cross 700... Key Points for all who are starting to prepare for GMAT: Finish Official Guide Official Guide Reviews Manhattan Gmat Prep sentence Correction Pratice by giving GMAT tests (min 4-8 tests by reinstalling). This is very important because this is the closest you can get in simulating the GMAT and the algorithm is exactly the same. Dont get disappointed if you score badly in the first few tests. My Gmat Prep scores were: Gmat Prep1: 640 Gmat Prep2: 620 -- After this I worked on my DS and Sentence Correction -- Gmat Prep3: 750 Gmat Prep4: 690 Gmat Prep5: 730 You could give Kaplan and Princeton... but give them initially. They dont help a too much. Although I haven't posted much but I have actively read through all the Quant Posts and most of the deriefs and I want to thank everyone on this forum especially Merlinacious, Gmat-help, Clintonn and T-Rex. This Forum Rocks!
  4. yeah agree with kk_del... missed that one... B is the answer
  5. Q1) I : median=greatest number. This can happen only if all the numbers are the same. therefore SD=0 -- sufficient II: Range =0. This also means that all the five numbers are the same. SD=0 -- sufficient. Answer= D Q2) There are 23 scores. therefore when arranged in ascending order the median is the 12th score = 79 Please let us know what the OA is
  6. Q3) probability(product of the 2 numbers is divisible by 4)= p(1,n) + p(2,n) + p(3,n) + p(4,n) + p(5,n) + p(6,n) =1/6*1/6 + 1/6*3/6+1/6*1/6 + 1/6 * 1 + 1/6*1/6 + 1/6*3/6 =(1+3+1+1+3)/36 + 1/6 =9/36 + 1/6 =5/12
  7. Since they are 5 integers evenly spaced, average=median. 1) median=0 therefore avg=0 sum is therefore=0 -- sufficient 2) Range =4 doesnt give us any information -- insufficient Answer is A what is the OA?
  8. from the statement given, C=KTL^2 where K is a constant, T is the thickness and L is the length from 1) K*(0.2)*(2)^2 = 160 + K*(0.1)*(2)^2 this gives us k*0.8=0.4*k + 160
  9. Q1) n! = n*(n-1)*(n-2)*....*1 12!/6! -- this is an integer 12!/8! -- This is an integer 12!/(7!*5!) -- expand and solve... turns out to be an integer Q2) The basket contains 5 apples out of which 1 is spoiled. To select 2 apples from 5 apples -- 5C2 To select on spolied apple and i good apple = 1* 4C1=4 probability= 4/5C2 = 2/5
  10. i agree with GmatGnat... this was a tricky one!
  11. from 1: 5 is the greatest common factor. this means that 5 is a factor of n and t. insufficient from 2: 105 is the least common multiple of nt meaning all the prime factors on n and t multiplied give us 105 105=5*3*7 -- sufficient
  12. from 1: Let the female doctors be X therefore male doctors = 8-X there are 10 men. therefore non-doctor men= 10-(8-X)=2+X can be concluded that the non-doctor men > female doctors from 2: 5 male doctors. -- insufficient answer is A
  13. Let C be the cost L be the length and T be the thickness C=KTL^2 from 1: K*0.8=0.4*K+160 K can be found (k=400) and therefore the cost k*0.9 can be found --- sufficient from 2: k*0.9=200+k*0.4 K can be found (k=400) and therefore we can find the cost k*0.9 -- sufficient therefore the answer is D
  14. Let the equation of line L be y=m1x + c1 K be y=m2x + c2 x intercepts of the lines L is -c1/m1 and -c2/m2 therefore (-c1/m1) (-c2/m2) >0 therefore (c1.c2)/(m1.m2) >0 1) can say anything about the slopes. -- Insufficient y intercepts of the lines L is c1 and K is c2 2) c1.c2 cant say anything about the slopes therefore insufficient combining both, we get c1.c2 0 then (m1.m2) therefore C
  15. 3/4 gallons= 1/2 gallon + 1/4 gallons therefore we need 1 gallon.
