  1. Hey, You should be in good standing but maybe you should think about taking the test one more time. If you're a senior, you can take the SATs up until December for all of the UCs and most of the other 4-year universities.

    nice to meet you

Hey, Andy: What college did you attend? Did you have a good college experience? I hope this isn't a "service/ad" post. :) Good luck with your new job!
  3. I was the class treasurer of my high school half of junior yr and the entire senior year. The treasurer is responsible for all fundraising events, maintaining class funds, sponsoring any class-affiliated event, and just KNOWING if there's enough money in the account and how or what to use it on. It's a lot of work if you attend a public school. They rely on class fundings so you might be pressured to raise that extra cash for prom and such. Hope that helps. good luck!
  4. http://www.testmagic.com/Knowledge_Base/book_recommendations.htm That's a link to a bunch of books that TestMagic has personally looked over and recommends to any of our students/friends. :) Check it out and I hope it helps!
  5. What year are you? JUNIOR/Senior? If you're an entering Senior, I recommend you taking the SAT bc 25/36 on the ACT is not really what we would consider "HIGH" for any of the UCS other than Riverside or Merced. Your best bet would be to take the SATs (if Math isn't your strongest suit) and try to raise your score. Best of luck! Patti K
  6. Any financial aid usually depends on your parent's income or what not. As for international students, I think it's much harder for them to have a financial aid package since UCSD is a public school and gives a bit of their money preference to CA residents. Your best bet would be applying for different scholarships and depending on that. :)

  10. i will have to disagree. STANFORD ALL THE WAY. :)
  11. Yeah, I must agree with everything that people have said so far. UCLA is super picky with any of their applicants but I feel as if they even place stricter standards on transfer students. Just make sure you consider other schools as well because if you dont get admitted, it wont be the end of the world. The UC system offers a LOT of good UCs so take a good look at em, too if you get admitted. For instance, Berkeley is an amazing school, awesome campus, and filled with great people! Good luck!
  12. Hey, Everyone! I just wanted to do a general post for anyone interested in applying for UCDAVIS as a transfer student. I was on the DSAC (dean's student advisory council) and I actually reviewed some of the transfer apps. (For those who have already applied and are waiting for a letter, it should have been mailed out two weeks ago or you can log into sisweb.ucdavis.edu to check on the status.) Basically the criteria for getting into Davis as a transfer isn't as hard as it may seem. You will need a cumalative GPA of 3.2 or higher (I've seen some. 3.0s get in accepted, too but you should play it safe), a strong personal statement, and some sort of extracurricular activity that you have demonstrated some sort of commitment, too. We used a "point system" as peer-reviewers but if you've completed all the requirements and received a number of >=85, then you would be considered as an outstanding candidate. Then, we would send it up to the OFFICIAL admissions board who may read over your personal statement, check to see if everything is in good order, and BAM! you're admitted! :) I strongly recommend any students that are interested in attending davis to take a tour of the campus on any normal school day. It's a beautiful campus and filled with fun and friendly students. go AGGIES. :) If you guys have any further questions about UCDavis admissions or UCSD (I actually went there for a quarter, too:)), please feel free to post up your questions on the forum and I'll do my best to respond in a timely manner. I wish you all the best of luck with all your future endeavors! Thanks!
  13. hey crazedchargerfan! you're in luck! i went to UCSD for undergrad. I got admitted as a normal app outta college so I'm not too sure how strict they are on transfer students but i know a couple of friends who have gotten in with the same stats as you. I hope you have so good extracurriculars bc UCSD likes good grades and leadership skills/experience on the side. A lot of admittance decisions are also based on how well of a personal statement you submitted. well i wish you well and remember to post up your success stories on the forum! we would love to hear a followup!
  14. Hey, everyone: Here's the site for the general UC Application that students may utilize to apply online. http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/ Although the site suggests that the online app won't be available till October 1st, you can probably download a paper/hard copy app if you want to be an early bird and start preparing for your app now. Wishing you the best of luck!, Patti K
