hedgestate without qualification gamelyfearfully I agree with Erin. Hedge means to avoid making a clear, direct statement. A clear, direct statement does not mean a foolish statement. It may be foolish for somebody to make a clear statement but his statement itself is unnecessary to be foolish.

jackal: I agree with u that GRE is a silly test. I do not think such words in GRE test as vicissitudinous or zephyr are useful in everyday lives or science research. I think it will be right to cancel verbal test and introduce IQ test. No one can cheat in IQ test I think. And it seems more fair to people around the World. How do you think about this?

Hi Psyoutlaw, your are right. I think ETS is right to recover paper-based test in China. Many students cheat in Computer-based test because there are professional testers in China regularlly took part in CBT and wrote from memory real ETS questions , which can be used repeatedly in test, and put them on Internet. But now PBT never use old questions in China. So it is useless for Chinese to get real questions from websites. But it is the fact that some Chinese can still get a score near 800 in verbal test without cheat. Many people are so diligent to spend half a year and at least ten hours a day to prepare for the verbal test. People know that every Chinese can easily get a 800 score in mathematics and logic. Even we have no English environment , we can also get a 800 score. Blieve it or not, one of my friends got a score of 6 in AWA writing. ; )
