  1. A for me too for same reasons. "admits" is required and "only" is placed correctly in A
  2. Would go with A - If we negate A, it weakens the argument.
  3. 1 more vote for E... agree with grems explanation.
  4. What is "which" refering to in case of B ????
  5. Run-on sentences are formed when 2 independent clauses are joined together. 2 Independent clauses can be joined by semi-colon, while here comma is used, and is wrong. coming to your question "and so too are modems" here "and" actually playing it's part. "and" is a conjunction and is joining the 2 clauses and that is grammatically correct.
  6. awesome man.....you ROCK!!!! really appreciate your persistence and endurance to kill this beast..... I have pretty much same background as yours except four GMAT attempts, it's just one :D this a really motivating story to me All the best with your appz
  7. wow...that's a good score and with your profile I am sure you can get in top10 schools...If I were you I would have kept INSEAD in my list. so what place you took your exam ?
  8. I need to know same thing...is it worth buying both of them ?
  9. "ing" is used to show continous action or in other words something that is happening presently. According to "A", the cannon has been continously shooting the chickens :), it is not correct
  10. I am lost in this one....If I look at the meaning it makes perfect sense to use "its collections" but if I go by grammar rules, I am not able to understand. the pronoun refers to the last noun, in this case the last noun before pronoun is "collectors". why should we use "its" here ?
  11. I am inclined to A as well....not sure if it's trap
  12. I got stuck between D & E..... how to eliminate E ???
  13. D should be the answer. author is talking about advantage of 1 over other.
  14. "both X and Y" is the correct idiom......B, D and E are out C doesn't look good for various reasons Will go with A
  15. only A & B are contenders From the argument we only know what "people with self-confidence do", while we don't know what "people without self-confidence do". B should be the answer.
  16. I would go with C Conclusion: Thus, photovoltaic power plants offer a less expensive approach to meeting demand for electricity than do traditional power plants. Author is assuming that we cannot use the techonological advances in traditional power plants.
  17. I think it is specified in the argument itself "As a result, most research scientists employed in private industry now earn 50 percent more than do comparably skilled research scientists employed by the government." So "B" cannot be assumption, since it is the premise. D looks perfect answer.
  18. Thanks for explanation, defylogic. If what you said is true, then D should be answer. The reason I considered those numbers is because I believe that "Most" means majority (more than 50%), can also mean "all" "some" means minority (less than 50%) Where did you read that "some can mean all" ? "Most" can mean all, but if "some" can also mean all, then what is the difference ? I confused now. What book are you referring ?
  19. I doubt if this is a GMAT question....what is the source of question ? I would go with D
  20. az780 if you have same line of reasoning...then I would have a counter question for you Why do you think C is not answer ?
  21. defylogic ...why cant you reverse the logic of conclusion 1 to get the answer as C ?????? IMO E Considering a set of 100 parents where 50 are generous and 50 are self-centered Most parents who are generous are good parents = 47 out of 50 Some self-centered parents are also good parents = 10 out of 50 Yet all good parents share one characteristic; they are good listeners. Clearly, 10 is less than 47 ...which means E is the answer
  22. D disputes Concetta’s conclusion and Alicia's Conclusion: Franchot was not a great writer. > then presents facts in support of an alternative criterion
