  1. agree with diehard800 ....am looking for a more convincing explanation to rule out A.
  2. why is 'and' required at the start in "E"
  3. agree with rockerz.. have trouble understanding the phrase "on pain of death" in relation to the sentence ....please explain?
  4. Its between C & D B & E ruled out because ambigous pronoun "they" A ruled out beacuse when we use "In assessing...." should modify the actual person who does the assessment. I would go with D as " question that is irrelevant" in C seems awakard
  5. Soviet audiences have seen a great deal of coverage. There is a use of present perfect tense which means that Soviet audience can still see great deal of coverage. to maintain parallel structure present perfect tense should be used in the underlined portion. this is the case in only C and D D is ruled out as it chnages the intent "not all the proceedings" implying some proceedings were definately carried live. I will go with C. I assume that "live" instead of "alive" , in C Please explain if you find something wrong in the line of reasoning.
  6. IMO D oil reserves(global or Alaska?) ambiguity rules out C & E A & B wordy
  7. in E the pronoun "it" of the last clause does not have a clear anetcedent. I would go with A
  8. IMO D "of" in A,B, C seems redundant E alters the meaning "sales of a year earlier"
  9. IMO D them (plural)refers to Puritan Fanatics.
  10. IMO C A & D chemical composition is compared with terrestrial lava. B comparison not clear. terrestrial lava's (what?) confused between C & E , I will go with C. E seems to give a different meaning .
  11. IMO B A,C --"he lacked in technical skill " is more concise than "was lacking in his technical skill " and is parallel with "he played the music". D-- "for" seems to be redundant , however it could be a correct idiom. E--repetative use of "he" makes the choive unfavorable.
  12. I will go with B A & E have "also" which makes little sense C has "as well" which implies East and Southeast Asia are separate from the world D has "being" which is not prefferred in GMAT
  13. IMO E Apart from structural inefficiencies C also changes the intent of the sentence "earlier payments" is not a certainity as implied in C.
  14. IMO C here "it" is a pronoun and its antecedent is "the rate of increase ". twice=two times. however in a context where both can be used "twice" is preferred
  15. (A) awakard construction (b) "that" refers to the "African Culture" which is not the intended meaning. © wordy but correct. (d)Awakard construction (e) passive and gmat does prefer this construction IMO C
