  1. IMO E. With the number of demand for college graduates not increasing, the only thing that explains the increase in the salary difference is that the demand for high school diploma holders have increased.

  3. IMO B. If B is not assumed, then Japanese and European countries will not try to take advantage of falling dollar and hence US exports of pulp will not increase.
  4. Hey Guys, Can some one explain why A is the correct answer?
  5. 1) Answer A. y= n^3 /450. This may be an integer or a fraction. If you further divide y by an integer, chances are less that the quotient will be a integer. In other words, you cant be certain whether y divided by an integer will be an integer or not. 2) Answer E. M = 4^(1/2) + 4^(1/3) + 4^(1/4) = 2 + 1.5 + 1.4 Here, as 4^1/4 = 2 ^1/2= 1.41 and 4^1/3 comes greater than 1.5 3) Answer C. Both the statements together are sufficient. For y=3x + 2 to contain the point (r,s), it should satisfy s= 3r + 2 or 3r-s +2 =0 from A) we cant be certain that (3r + 2 - s) is 0 as 4r + 9 -s can also be 0. Hence this statement is insufficient. Same problem with B). Together we can definitely say that 3r + 2 - s =0. Hence both the statements together are required.

It contradicts itself by proclaiming a condition to be not dangerous and then offering a recommendation to avoid that condition. One of my friends passed this question. I am confused between A and B. Please discuss.
  7. 1) Cube of fractions is less than number itself. As x is positive, we can say x^3> x, and hence x is a fraction i.e. less than 1. Sufficient. 2) Again, as x is positive we can divide by x giving x^2> x which will be true for positive fractions. Sufficient. Both are sufficient, hence D.
  8. 1) Insufficient. You can't determine with just the number of pencils. 2) Can be sufficient or insufficient. Just check how multiples of 23 and 21 sums upto 130. 21*6 =122 21*5 + 23*1=128 21*4 + 23*2 =130. So 2 pencils of 23 cents. No other combination of multiples of 21 and 23 will be possible as 21 and 23 are co-prime. So B is sufficient. Hence the answer.
  9. This is a case of circular reasoning. According to senator, no true art is obscene. And to justify this, he says that if work of art is obscene, then it is not true art. Answer should be D.
  10. Hey charry_008, 'not so..as' is a correct idiom in GMAT. There is one question based on this idiom in OG11. Also, 'so X that Y' and 'as X as Y' are correct. Dont think that 'so X as Y' is correct.
