  1. Hi, Can anyone please reply? I am waiting. Thanks in advance. cheers, Pradeep
  2. Hi, Can someone tell me if the book titled 'Answers to the real GMAT questions - 3rd edition' (Arco) that was published on Jan 2003 has sample responses to all the revised essay topics? Thanks in advance. cheers, Pradeep
  3. gymshort79, we are in the same boat. I found Kaplan verbal workout has a good list of idioms at the end. You may want to photocopy them (they are just about 10-15) pages, if you are doing well on the other verbal question types or if you have bought the kaplan GMAT cdrom (as the cdrom includes all the practice that are available in the verbal workout). cheers, pradeep
  4. You get one free when you register for the GMAT. But the catch is, GMAC asks you to first input essays on experimental topics, and only then they will allow you to enter the essay which will be graded instantly by the eRater. So you do three essays in all. Check out mba.com (official gmac site for students), they offer a essay grading product, where they grade your essay for some $$. 800score.com also offers the same service. With regards to practice, there are several sites which offer free downloads of essays. If you want to download sample essays responses to all topics download it from edonkey.com (you will need the emule client software for this). cheers, pradeep
  5. GMAT = Admissions into Business schools GRE = Engineering schools They are two different tests, and the decision to take one depends on your career plans... cheers, pradeep
  6. I would appreciate if you can reply soon, as I have my test in 8 weeks. Thanks a lot mate. :) cheers, Pradeep
  7. Hi jjomalls, I have been trying to figure out where can I purchase the Manhattan GMAT CD-ROM from. I am from India, and we dont have any reseller for Manhattan GMAT Prep courses (I checked this out). So I will have to buy from the internet. Can you please advise me the site where I can purchase this CD. :) One note about deltacourse.com: I have heard that their questions, specifically probability, permutations and combinations, are really good. I also get their daily GMAT question and solve most of them. But the site where you buy access to their site (clickbank), has a non-verifiable secure certificate.[:(!] I would not trust a certificate which cannot be verified for revocation, hence post-poned the purchase decision. Thanks mate, looking forward to your reply. cheers, Pradeep
  8. One gets four different scores when one takes GMAT. First - Quant scaled score, this is what the Q-49 means. Second - Verbal scaled score, this is what the V-38 means. The % indicates your percentile score - how much of the test takers scored above or below you. (93% means, 93% test takers scored below you and 7% above you) Third - Total score on a scale between 200-800 Last one is AWA score in a scale of 0-6 (0 is very very rare).
  9. Some yahoo groups and other servers in outernet have the soft copy (scanned) of the grammar section in the verbal workout. You may want to check that out before you buy the book.
  10. Develop Test Mentality. Take several full length practice tests before the actual GMAT. I firmly believe that this test can be learned. Because this test is given on the computer intimidates most people. Use Iron to bend Iron. Prepare hard, learn to recognise traps, and practice a lot. You will do well. I have already raised my average score by 60 points in two weeks.

    Quant questions

Can anyone tell me what is the best source for tough quant questions. I need to brush up on probability and cannot find enough problems in the [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip]. I would be greatful if anyone can tell me a good source where tough quant questions are available. What about http://www.deltacourse.com, is this a good source? thanks, pradeep
  12. Thanks Artur for your concern. I dont know any other forum, and use this one. Sometime I get good replies and some other times none.:(
  13. Kaplan with CD, is a very good 'guide' to start with. Kaplan 800, as I have heard, has got some of the toughest questions. If you starting from scratch, I would recommend Kaplan 2004 with CD, since the software is very good (a little childish though), and has several full length practice tests and ability to create customised study plans based on the results of your diagonistic test. The CD has also some useful info about the schools, if you intent to study in the USA. NOTE: If you are buying the kaplan book with CD, then never buy the kaplan verbal workout as the CD has got all practice sets that you find in the verbal workout. However, the verbal workout has got a good english grammar reference. All the best.
  14. Some of the actual scores reported by test takers suggest that verbal and quant sections are scored seperately. Some people have scored 49Q and 22V and there are a lot of people who have scored the other way round as well. But, I do not know how the CAT arrives at your final scaled score. It may take your quant scaled score + verbal scaled score to arrive at the final score (What I am hinting is, the CAT never calculates final score when taking the test, it just calculates the section scaled score)
  15. I have heard, from many people here, that it is very important to solve good (tough) quant questions from sources other than the regular kaplan and [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip]. People here have suggested the following prep-courses to be good: 1) Manhattan GMAT 2) Cambridge CD 3) http://www.deltacourse.com - online material I am unable to trace the reseller for cambridge cd, and also how good it is. If anyone can tell me how good is the cambridge GMAT cd, and where it can be purchased, I would be grateful to you. Erin can you please comment on this post? :) cheers
  16. Hi Manish, I read from your post in the other board that you got a 660+ Congrats mate!!! I would really appreicate, if you can direct me to the correct website where Cambridge CD is sold. I dont mind sharing though :) Thanks in advance. cheers, pradeep
  17. I got the shock of my life today. I took the simulated CAT using powerprep software, and got a 590 [:(!] I have heard that people do raise scores from 550+ to 650+ (100 points), any directions on how to study etc. would be of great use to me. Given my background, how much more time do you think I would need in order to get a 670+? My GMAT is on Feb 4th, should I consider rescheduling the exam to a later date? Being an Engineer I have always been good at advanced math (a little slow in calculations and approximations, though), but now I need full focus on math. I never expected the PP score to be so low. I think I could have done better in both quant and verbal. I am facing particular difficulty with number properties problems. I would also appreciate any comments on improving the speed of calculations. As far as verbal is concerned, I always manage to get a majority of sentence correction questions wrong, I am good at CR and RC comparitively. How should I manage tough SC questions? I have my GMAT on Feb 4th, and need urgent advice on the same. My indian friends: Would the CAT study material and strategies prove helpful for the GMAT?
  18. The CAT for admissions into IIM's is one of the toughest in the world! If you prepare for CAT, and you can do well in CAT, then GMAT is easy!!!. Believe me, I have studied for CAT, and also GMAT. On an average, you have about miutes for one math question in GMAT. I dont think there is a minimum time required to get you 650+ score. Try taking a diagnostic test today, and you may score 700+! Well, that's what gmac claims - that GMAT measures ability which are developed over long periods of time. However I think 300 to 400 hours of study should be good. If you are taking about ISB, then you will not have problems with quant (most indians dont have problems with quant), but you may need to review the verbal section. ALL THE BEST...
  19. Carsen, Would you mind sharing crack-gmat material with me. I have the other stuff like paper tests, kaplan, vstudy, 800score tests etc. :) I have heard that crack-gmat quant questions are really competitive, and I want to solve a few of them. cheers, pradeep
  20. Hi Manish, Can you post links to the web-sites where these material are sold? I visited http://www.manhattangmat.com/, is this the company you are refering to? I would appreciate if you can post the web-sites here. thanks, pradeep
  21. You can buy them from mba.com, they cost $25 for a set of three. There are totally three sets available for download. Alternatively, you can reply to this post with your email address.
  22. I believe that, the scaled scores should mean the same, no matter where they come from. So you could use the score-scale sheet at the end of Kaplan or [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip], to get your 200-800 scaled score. You will have to work backwards from your scaled scores to get your raw scores, and from there you can get your approximate 200-800 score. Btw, Do you mind sharing the 800 score tests with me??? I really need them...... All the best for your exam.
  23. Hi, Is there anyone out there, who is kind enough to share the 800 score tests with me? I have already spent over $500 on GMAT preparations and can't spend more money....... :( cheers, Pradeep
  24. Hi maverick_ucdc, I found that many questions from Microedu are taken from [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip]. If you have the Crack-Gmat practice tests, can you share them with me??? All the best for your exam.
