  5. agreed with u guys.. but to all the options seem to be incorrect, hence the confusion. I remember reading, the part of the sentence after the ; should be able to stand alone, should be a complete sentence in itself which doesnt seem to be a case with option 'C' (guys, correct me if I am wrong). Is this again a case where we are opting for the least incorrect of the answer choices.

  10. let the members be 1,2,3,4,M(ichael),A(ntony).. total no. of ways to select 3 memb. com. 6c3 X 1 (the other 3 will get selected by default once we have the first 3) let the com. be X & Y. X can have M & A together as... M A 1 M A 2 M A 3 M A 4 = 4 ways, similarly com. Y can be selected as well, thus total ways 8 prob. = 8/6c3

  16. this is a much discussed question on TM :).. h(100)= 2x4x6x8.. =>2(1x2x3..50) =>2(50!) so, we have 2(50!)+1.. now, there is a property (forgive me for i do not remeber the precise words).. but it roughly says, the smallest prime factor to divide a factorial of the form n!+1 is always > n. thus E is the answer.. hopefully sum1 will post the xact thing...
  17. its 3^(8n+3) we can try using the cyclicity of 3 which is 4. sub. n as 1 or any other no., we get 11 (on using 1). dividing 11 by 4, we get remainder as 3. 3^3, last digit 7 -> 7+2 = 9. on diving by 5, we the remainder 4.

  20. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Last month 15 homes were sold in Town X. The average (arithmetic mean) sale price of the homes was $150,000 and the median sale price was $130,000. Which of the following statements must be true? I. At least one of the homes was sold for more than $165,000. II. At least one of the homes was sold for more than $130,000 and less than $150,000. III. At least one of the homes was sold for less than $130,000. A) I only B) II only C) III only D) I & II E) I & III for Q1..why cond 1 holds true. lets just forget the extra 0's. avg sale price - 150 median price - 130 no. of houses - 15 thus total value of the houses - 15X150 = 2250 130 is the 8th term. let the next 7 values all be 165, we get 165 X 7 = 1155 ----(1) let the first 8 houses al sell for 130 (max value upto the median), we get - 130 X 8 = 1040 ---(2) from 1 & 2, we get a total of 2195, which is less than 2250, which should be the total value of all the houses. thus to compensate for this difference, atleast one of the houses has to be sold for over 165.
