  1. I declined the unfunded admission in msc econ at upf soon after I received it. Several hours later, I received an email asking me whether I'm interested in msc finance. There is a different Admissions Committee for each master and decisions upon applications are taken separately. Hence, I think you can ask them to consider your application for msc finance (remaining admitted in msc econ,is it feasible? I don't know...try to contact them). Maybe you will be lucky this time.
  2. Thanks for your info. You have a strong profile. Good luck! Now I'm worried about my chance. Maybe I will give up my illusions in two hours:doh:
  3. My status is still "application completed"...waiting...
  4. No news for me......So nervous...... Congrats to carlos, lightyears and samurai and bless all!
  5. Yes.....I am an international student. There is only one course named "real analysis" in my college, and its textbook is Real and Complex Analysis by Rudin. Hence, I have no idea what "real analysis" refers to in US.
  6. How about a course covering baby Rudin? Is it regarded as real analysis?
  7. According to gradcafe, sb was admitted on Feb 20th last year.
  8. Those are master placements since two guys got offer from Duke, and they have another website for PhD placements which differ a lot.

  10. I'm sorry I don't know much about the structure of the program, but I know that if you are in the MPhil 2 econ or finance, you may get dual degrees in MPhil econ&MPhil finance in one year, although you have to do a lot in that year.
  11. I heard that you could take PhD courses in UIUC,Indiana, and Rutgers. Not quite sure about the placement records. There are some sucessful stories: UIUI->Northwestern;Rutgers->Princeton,Penn
  12. From an insider: FEB Faculty Newsletter,Jan 28th 2009 Graduate School Targets FMT has set the new and higher targets for the inflow of students in the CentER Graduate School for the coming years: 60 MPhil-1 students, 60 MPhil-2 students and 48 PhD's (24 paid by CentER, 24 externally funded, of which 15% should get a top placement after graduation). In 2008 the following figures were realized: 32 MPhil-1 students, 34 MPhil-2 students and 40 PhD's 40 (25 paid by CentER and 15 externally funded). Even if "the coming year" refers to 2010, I think they will admit more than 2008 this year......
  13. In order to get into Mphil 2 at Tilburg, you must have a master degree before enrollment. 4 months? It's possible. It depends on your profile now. I don't think it's difficult to get into Mphil 2, since they will admit more students this year.
  14. I am not quite sure. Click the link above. It says: 2008 PhD Program Placements We congratulate our alumni on another outstanding year! In addition, most students' names there are listed as xxx'08
  15. It is commonly believed that the master program in US is not good stepping-stone for a PhD. However, it seems that Duke MA has an amazing placement in 2008. Berkeley,Wharton(Finance),Wisc,Maryland(1Econ 1Accounting),JHU,UVA,MSU,NCSU and 2Duke in a single year! Duke University: Master's in Economics
  16. If you get A in most math courses, forget B- in topology and submit the transcript.
  17. Italian students graduating from Bocconi send good signals: They are among the top. However, I doubt whether it applies to foreigners.
  18. UPF on par with LSE? I don't think so...... Graduate Programme According to their records, they have only one offer from top10 in a single year. In addition, No one has been admitted by top5 in recent years. I heard that LSE did much better.
  19. They have a rolling-based addmission process and I think it's not hard to get an addmission...... Hence, I've decided to apply later if I am not in good position for some top programs then....
  20. No...I have not completed the application. The online application system worked for me one month ago, but it doesn't now when I try to edit sth... Someone got admission on late December and was required to answer in three weeks...
  21. PS: The reply from UPF is very very slow...... I wrote to them on Jan 10th, and got a reply today...... PS2: Anyone applied to MAE-AECI scholarships? The introduction to this scholarship is in Spanish, so I can not understand it at all, and the admission office told me nothing about it except its website(of course in Spanish) 15 days after my request...... In conclusion, I have had a very bad experience with my application to UPF......
