  7. 2) AX^2 + 1 is positive for all x It's still not clear to me why stmt 2 is not sufficient. consider values x = 1 and A For condition 2 to satisfy for all values of x, A has to be positive or am i missing something?

  9. Well, you are right that the number of employees can range from 1 to infinity. However, according to condition 1 and 2, only 35 percent of the projects can have number of employees ranging from 1 to 2 and 25 percent of projects can have employees ranging from 4 to n. The remaining 40 percent of the projects will have 3 employees. When the number of employees are arranged in ascending order, irrespective of what their values are and that can range from 1 to infinity, 3 will fall in the middle and hence will be the median.

  12. (1) W + C > 50 - Insufficient (2) C > 48 - Insufficient Combining (1) and (2), when C = 49, then according to condition 1, W + 49 > 50. This means W > 1. when C = 55, then according to condition 1, W + 55 > 50. This means W >= -4. Not clear whether W is positive or negative. Hence E.
  13. Lets say at the half time the opponent scored x goals and M&M scored x-3 goals. Condition (1) - At the end of second half - M&M's score = (x-3) + 4 = x+1 Opponent's score -> don't know as we don't know how many goals did the opponent score. Insufficient. Condition (2)- Total goals scored by opponent = 4. M&M's score -> don't know, all we know is that M&M was trailing by 3 goals at the half time. No other information available so insufficient. Combining (1) and (2) - Total score of opponent = 4 M&M's score at the end of first half = 0 or 1, considering whether opponent scored 3 or 4 goals in first half. M&M's total score at the end of second half = 4 or 5, so M&M either won or the match was drawn. Combining (1) and (2) not sufficient. So E is the answer.
  14. (1) 25 percent of the projects at Company Z have 4 or more employees assigned to each project. (2) 35 percent of the projects at Company Z have 2 or fewer employees assigned to each project. If we arrange the possible values of employees assigned to projects in ascending order i.e. 1,2,3,4,5.... then from condition 1 and 2 its clear that the value of 3 will fall in middle. So 3 its the median.

  17. Shouldn't the answer be D? According to second condition - 2. AX^2 + 1 is positive for all x so when x = 1 and A For e.g. when x = 1 and A = -4 AX^2 + 1 = -4(1)^2 + 1 = -3 which is less than zero. So to satisfy second condition A has to be positive and hence condition (2) is also sufficient.
