  1. +1 both verbal and quant. if anyone knows of a forum or a source with answers//explanations/discussion of these questions - can you please post
  2. hey reason, thanks a lot for the response. appreciate the advice. cheers
  3. thanks for the insight. you obviously destroy this exam. two quick things: 1) you mentioned that the manhattan gmat gre book vocab is somewhat obscure. just to make sure that we are on the same page - you are referring to their text/sentence equivalence book (one out of 8 or however many they have), correct? can you please recommend best ways to prep for vocab? which word lists/book/guides do you find most helpful/relevant? given a limited time frame - how would you prepare for verbal? 2) the AWA portion of the exam: i don't want to derail your thread and basically just wanted to echo everything that you said about directions. essay prompts for each portion of the writing section are listed here: GRE Revised General Test: Analytical Writing i think its definitely worth familiarizing yourself with these prompts and more importantly, with the list of things that they explicitly want you to avoid. for people that took the GMAT and are used to the same questions - do not autopilot. note how there is not only a number of different essay prompts, but each prompt is somewhat involved and is asking for a specific thing (i.e. which questions help evaluate the argument)
  4. he hi kevin, how could you notice this? are you referring to ranges quoted on actual exams or ranges quoted on the revised powerpep softare? i am assuming that it is the latter, but can you please elaborate on this? also, what does it mean for the score reported to be biased? in what way/towards what is the bias? 157 isn't competitive for the programs that i am applying to so back to studying. greatly appreciate any and all tips/advice on retaking, study strats, suggestions...literary anything. unlike the GMAT there isn't much information about this exam. this forum seems to be the only active forum (MGMAT forums are dead), however, there is a lack of actual content and just a ton of lurkers (like me) asking unanswered questions take care/thanks
  5. econ, i wish.....i am almost positive that i will not be making this thread if the score was in the other direction. its 30 points below the bottom of the range that was quoted so if by take it and run you mean hypnotize verbal flashcards until my eyes bleed and overdose on coffee then yeah.....i am off to the races. all jokes aside this is somewhat absurd and a lack of any reasonable explanation makes me question the way the test is scored. there is already enough variance as it is in this exam.
  6. at the end of the exam i was given the 590-670 range for verbal. my official score on verbal is 157, which is outside the score range. has this happened to anyone? can anyone explain this? for what its worth i had an experimental verbal section, however, i was under the impression that when the score range is calculated at the end of the exam, it encompasses all of the sections. appreciate any help/advice
  7. thread has 106 views...surely someone knows what we are missing. seems like a trivial issue. we must be missing something obvious. can someone please let us know how to get use powerprep software such that a different test is displayed? right now when i launch the software and begin a new timed practice exam, i am given the same version of the exam that i completed the first time i used the software. allegedly there are multiple different exams or a question bank from which the software is drawing questions, right?
  8. that makes two of us facing the same issue as the OP. i don't see any options to take a different version of the exam and the questions do not reset. can someone please advise? does taking a new exam require uninstalling the softawre? thanks
