  1. dear administrator, please delete my account. I feel offended to be a member of this forum. Thanks
  2. Thanks for the information. 1. This post is a friendly reminder; 2. I said "dominated offers"; 3. Today is 4/15; 4. By now, all results are out, and most of us should have all information we need to make a decision; 5. Not only applicants are waiting, the DGS too have to all work at this time; 6. We should allow another voice on this forum (not trying to stir a discussion/debate).
  3. Dear all, please decline offers that you won't accept anyways. This will greatly benefit the a lot of other applicants, as well as DGS. Yes it will just be a few hours until tomorrow night, but not all programs could wait until tomorrow. I greatly appreciate your consideration.
  4. Hi there, I was waitlisted by a 20+ program and I haven't heard from them besides some regular e-mail updates. I'm kinda worried now since it's close to the 4/15 deadline and I really want this one. I also didn't see new admissions by them on this forum or GC after the first round of offers. I wondered: 1. Do more schools tend to giver out offers declined by others at once, and only near the 4/15 deadline? Or would they give out offers right after someone declined it, without anyone else knowing? 2. Any insider info. on the overall pattern? 3. At this point, is there anything I could/should do to increase the probability of being accepted eventually? 4. Is this year's waitlist process longer than previous years? 5. (kinda off topic) Do more people tend to decline unwanted offers close the deadline? (No judgement, of course) I appreciate much your response!
  5. Don't worry too much about it. Do well in the other two Math courses. I'd say it doesn't matter at all if you score A-/A in other Math classes. Good luck!
  6. lol at the last sentence...it seems like the reality in at least some of the departments.
  7. In my opinion, the first option looks enough. My professor once suggested me not take more Math, but more advanced Econ. And the Math degree isn't really that important, if you have the courses they want. Plus, you will receive an Honors in Economics, so a Math degree barely helps on the margin. When you have the courses listed in option one, what really matters then is how well you do in it, and strong letters. A research experience can also help. Btw, I don't see multivariable calc here, so you might wanna do that too. P.S I traveled to Australia in 2006 and visited the U of M there, pretty nice university and city!
  8. I don't think it means that much though. You got in the schools that rejected me. The admission process is just unpredictable, especially with this year's crazy number of applicants. It's also about the field of interest, recommender connection, etc. I suppose.
  9. Same here, I think it's a waitlist. For programs within this range, it is more likely that people with offers (who tend to be at the top of the applicant pool, or more directly, who takes it as safety) will end up somewhere else. Just my opinion.
  10. Institution: University of Maryland Program: Economics PhD. Decision: Not admission now, but "there is some possibility that we may offer you admission". Funding: N/A Notification Date: March 8. Notified Through: E-mail. Posted on GC: No. Comments: Well, I should still feel thankful that they didn't reject me directly.
  11. First time I saw this kinda website...but whoever created it is.............mean...lol
  12. In my own opinion, game theory might have the worst standard. I still remember us solving a problem that says you wanna get a chalk and you prefer someone to others, but others also have some kinda preference. You make an offer to someone you like that can be rejected by someone that doesn't like you. And you are supposed to maximize your utility based upon your choice of the person to get the chalk with(or no one). My own answer at the time of problem: get the chalk with anyone and make some friends! :)
  13. I wonder if that's to say "calm down, we are still reviewing your file and may send out another round of interviews later" ? Hope this is the case.
