I was given a task to write an essay about one custom in my country. I chose Novruz which is a national holiday celebrated in the early spring in Azerbaijan. Many people believe that the progress affects people's lives in a positive way. Therefore, they consider that governments should always try to support progress. Nonetheless, I think that uncontrolled progress can cause many problems. Therefore, I disagree with the statement that it is always good for several significant reasons. First of all, it should be taken into account that progress can lead to environmental problems. For example, due to the uncontrolled economic development natural resources are exploited by people unsophisticatedly. Due to the exploitation of natural resources such as fossil fuels, the amount of carbon dioxide released to the atmosphere increases every year. Carbon dioxide which is a green house gas increases the temperature on Earth significantly and it leads to a plenty of problems. Secondly, I believe that progress can lead to the disappearance of national values. For example, due to the speedy and comfortable transportation every year thousands of people travel to other countries. Mass tourism creates many problems for small minorities in certain countries. For example, people in developing countries are affected by western culture significantly and they forget their national values. These people affected by dominant cultures do not go on wearing their traditional clothes or live in a traditional way. Thus, progress causes disappearance of national identity. In conclusion, I would like to emphasize that my argument will probably be unacceptable to some people. For example, one can say that progress raises the life standard of people considerably; therefore it should be encouraged in any circumstances. Nonetheless, what I have argued here is that uncontrolled progress causes many problems such as environmental problems and disappearance of national values. When applying for a job, people usually take various factors into consideration. For majority of people the money is the most significant aspect of a job. In spite of this, there are a plenty of people who prefer an interesting job to a highly paid one. From my perspective, the salary is the main aspect of any occupation for several significant reasons. Thus, in the following paragraphs I will explain my agreement in detail. First of all, in order to get a highly paid job, people have to graduate a college as well as a graduate school. Getting higher education is really expensive. Therefore the number of students getting loans in order to pay their tuition fees is increasing rapidly. After graduation they have to spend a significant part of their salary to pay the debt. Because of this, I think that the money that they get for their job is really essential for them. Secondly, in my country majority of people prefer to get married right after completing their education. Besides themselves married people are responsible for their spouses and children. Therefore, I believe that they have to get enough salary so that they can provide their family with comfortable life. In conclusion, I would like to emphasize that these are not the only reasons to support the idea that the salary is the most essential feature of a job. I have certainly not discussed all of them. Nonetheless, I strongly believe that repaying the loans and being responsible for family are the main reasons why money is so important in a job. For all of these reasons, I think that money is the key aspect of any job.
