  2. Montreal is a very multicultural place and you will not face any problem. My friend, who is also south asian, in his 4th year in the phd program and doesn't speak French.
  3. I know two people personally who are attending U of T after MA at McMaster. What I heard from them is that, their classmates also went some top 40 range schools in US.
  4. With B+ in Micro, Macro and Metrics it would be tough to get into even mediocre PhD programs. But, I see your GRE is very good. If you are still interested, another MA in US/Canada can improve your profile.
  5. I would McMaster and McGill to your list. They are well known MA programs and have placed students into very good PhD programs recently.
  6. Thanks tm_member ... much appreciated... Thanks to all other members as well. Really appreciate your inputs.
  7. Thanks for all your responses. I decided to give it another try before giving up. Do you think a very good GRE or any other things like research experience, may help my case when I apply next year ?
  8. hi everyone, I am currently enrolled in a second tier PhD economics program in Canada. However, my grade in second micro is not good and therefore I have to withdraw from the Phd program. Grad director have given me the option of pursuing an MA from the dept or withdraw from PhD.. Also note that, I already have MA from a similar tier program in Canada. But, grades from this MA (if I convert to MA from PhD) will be lower than my previous one. I wish to apply again for PhD next year. Therefore, I was wondering if you guys give some input as to which option would be better ? Thanks
  9. I think you need to improve AWA if you are aiming top 10.
  10. I agree with economics 101 that for canadian schools being international or local is a big issue. If you are domestic, given your profile, I beleive you have realistic chance of getting into a top 4 canadian school. For US try schools between t40 - t60.
  11. Game Theory, Time Series, Diff equation, Numerical analysis
  12. Its very hard to get funding for MS / PhD Finance programs. However, for MA/PhD Economics standard funding is available.
  13. Can someone please suggest good introductory book/s on Differential Equation for self reading. I am working on maths before attending PhD this fall. Thanks

  18. Thanks. I got into alberta and NC state (without funding so far). Really hoping to get a offer from Carleton. Fingers crossed ...
  19. Heartiest congrats Economics 101. I did my MA in Canada. I know how hard it is to get into any of the top 4 as an International student. You have done excellent !! All the Best !
  20. Anybody heard back from georgia state's waiting list ?
  21. I think you need to look into the masters program in India, since you are from there. I assume even if they admit, you have to take some prerequisite economics courses before you start graduate courses. If you manage to do well in the MA then you may think of applying for another MA in Europe / US or Canada. And from there, you can plan your further route - Phd / Jobs etc.
  22. Here is the link for placement ISU Economics Department - Job Market Candidates
