  1. FINALLY!!!!! I'll check it out immediately!
  2. Can I just double what everybody said so far? I completely agree with everything. :victorious:
  3. I agree, it seems like a tricky question. I believe the goal is to understand if you might be more interested in teaching rather than doing research.
  4. I signed up for P.E. classes so that I have a time I HAVE to be there. Even though I've missed a few already because I HAD to finish some kind of assignment..
  5. Exactly, how can we call it "rest" when I spend most of the time cleaning, shopping for groceries and so on?? :pirate:
  6. I'm about to start my PhD in a couple of weeks and I've arrived in the city a few days ago bt hadn't contacted any professor yet. Truth is: I'm panicking. I'm afraid I will make a bad impression, that I do not know enough about management, that I do not know the professor researches very well and if they will talk about that I will look like an idiot etc etc.. Although the via mail the first years mentor told me that the only thing I should refresh before starting a PhD is statistics, calculus and algebrae for the method courses and nothing else I still feel "inadequate". So I am wondering: What do prefossors expect from new students? they consider them as "blank sheets" or else? How are the first approaches witht he faculty members? will I survive :sorrow:? (ok in the last one I' jocking) Anybody wanna pitch their 2cents? Thank you guys!
  7. I thought about getting a break, but I always have this feeling that I'm not "ready enough". It has been almost 2 year since my graduation and I thought it would be a good idea to go through some: Algebra Calculus Statistics Micro/Macro Strategic Management On the other side I understand how useful a break could be.. For the Point 2 I'm already on that. For point 1, that is an interesting idea, would you care to discuss it further? :D
  8. Hi guys, I want to ask, in your opinion, which are the courses that you think everybody should take before starting a PhD in Management. Or, for those who are already enrolled, what courses you think would have helped you in your PhD?
  9. I've always had a Doubt: When they consider the percentiles, they consider the number or "real people" or the number of "attempts"? let me explain, If 10.000 people took the gmat, each one of them took the test three times and I got into the 10%, does it mean that I am in the top 1000 people or in the top 3000 attempts? I believe it makes a considerable difference.
  10. I've got 720, I've been rejected by several medium ranked university.
  11. I too Would like to thank you guys for your answers; they are always very helpful!
  12. I improperly used one word???? OH GOD!!!! I'm sorry your majesty, I will atone for my sins by cutting off one of my fingers. Would that satisfy you? I don't know. It might seems obvious but it is always better to be sure people understand that. I don't know where you are from, but many PhD students are international and it is likely that they have never been away from their family/friends.
  13. I second everything that has been said so far. In my interviews I always asked the professors what was, in their opinion, the best and the worst aspect of their programs: Everybody answered that being small was surely their strongest asset, because it allowed them more attention to the students and so on.. BUT someone also mentioned it as a wekness: They admitted that the possibility to confront themselves with other PhD students has been one of the most important parts of their PhD. Either with people who entered the program with them and/or with people already in the program. I believe there are insights you can obtain only by other PhD students. In my opinion it is important to find the right trade off between personal attention and peers confrontation. You also need to factor your propension in "making friends". Thus, if you can easily make friends with everybody you meet you will probably be ok with only a couple of peers, otherwise it would be better to have the possibility to relate yourself with more students. It might seems trivial but I believe it could make a great difference. We all understand (Really?) how demanding a PhD program can be, and probably only another PhDer can understand you. And don't forget that you are likely far away from home, by yourself and with no childhood friends or family.
  14. I'll probably be using that in my next interview on Tuersday!
  15. Late March? Oh god.. Vertigo7: And what about it?
  16. PS I didn't share my perplexities because I don't wont to influence the audience! so what do you think about this PhD program?
  17. I actually didn't Check it out, when did they answered last year? PS what do you mean by "blue"? (sorry for the ignorance!:upset:)
  18. Well, if you tell it like this.. it actually sounds funny eheh I Know, I am a bad person!
  19. What's up on the Econ board?? Anyway don't worry, I actually quite easy on this entire thing; I'm just curious :D Anyway I actually count on the opinion/insights of a few members here Like you, Steve, Sapphiro, RSaylor, Indu and so on. I wouldn't just follow random people! Thank for the info though!
  20. I have had the idea to apply to the IE Business school PhD Program but I'm quite perplexed about such program (my interest would be in Strategy). Can Anybody share some insight?
