  1. Thanks a lot :) Area of Interest : CB ( just because I liked the subject during my MBA) 1. Undergrad grades: Did you have a good class rank (90 percentile and above)? : Yes Class rank in top 5 in batch of 300 2. PGDM: Did you have a good class rank (90 percentile and above)? : Rank 45 in a batch of 240
  2. Hi, Could anyone please comment on my chances of being considered in top 25 US B Schools: Country : India Gender : Female Graduation : B.Tech from a private university - 7.3/10 MBA : Marketing, MDI Gurgaon ( top 10 B-Schools, higher ranked than many IIMs in India)- 7.2/10 Work Experience: Pre MBA : Infosys Technologies Limited as a software engineer Post MBA : Currently with one of the leading steel companies in a fast-track management role LORs : Can get some good LORs from professors from my B School, working on some research papers with them GMAT: ? ( What should be the minimum score that would be required in order to be considered ) I am aiming at fall 2014 admission.
  3. My sincere thanks to everyone for explaining the pros and cons. For me, PhD or not, having a baby in next 2-3 years will be my first priority. And from what I have gathered from the discussion here, it wouldn't be that difficult for me to complete the program if my husband lives with me there, and has a respectable income. I think I am going to give it a shot! Thanks again, everyone.
  4. Thank you everyone for these words of encouragement. After going through all these answers, I am thinking it's doable :-) I went through 100s of threads in this forum to understand what to expect from a PhD in business, the sought after B-Schools, desirable GMAT score and other related stuff. The first step for me would be to target a decent GMAT score now. The reference point being my friends in India, I think 750+ is achievable. My CAT (GMAT like exam in India) score at the time of admission for MBA was 98.5 percentile, so how much preparation will it take from my side to get a score of 750+ ? Anyone, any ideas? And yes I definitely do not plan to leave my husband back home for the whole duration of the program. He would definitely try to find a job in US. It was easier to find jobs there when we were just engineers though :cyclops: .Now that he has left his engineering days far behind, I am not sure if his MBA from an Indian B School will fetch him a good job in US.He is currently working with SC Johnson India as an area sales manager. Anyways I know that all these doubts will be cleared with time. Thanks again!
  5. Hi, I always wanted to have a PhD, but now that I have an MBA degree, a good job, and a husband, I feel like I might have missed my chance. Though I love academics and would like to join a B School as a faculty one day. I have the following questions: 1.I understand that I will be around 35 when I finally get the degree. Is it possible to have a baby in the course duration? I am a woman. 2.If the answer to the first question is yes, will I be able to live comfortably with the stipend, as my husband will continue his job back home ( He too is an MBA and has a good job). Thanks
