Hi ppl, Nadaal Rules!!!!He deserves it.I have become a big fan of this awesome teenager!!!.His rivalry with Federer will be as legendary as between Agassi and Sampras,Seles and Stefi Graff.If(Nadaal) he gets his head away from show biz etc.,we are already loooking at a legend.Coming to Sania Mirza she has fallen prey to the Media hype.Here victories were minor,hyderabad open was a farce.Indisciplined Spectators,Unbearable Noise and absence of big stars helped Sania(As she lives between them(noise etc.,).I would bet my money on harsh Mankad and Rohan Bopanna.Some Guys like her apperance than her tennis. Women's tennis has got a salvation due to decline of William Sisters and emergence of RUssian players.This may seem odd,but it is true.Winner would be Henin.She keeps low profile and concentrates on tennis.All the best to her.

Hi folks, I have been missing this thread.It has some great fire works.I find the story a bit eerie and weird.One, It is very rare to find such incidents in open democracies such as canada.A person must be gullible enough to be fooled for such a long time in a first world free democracy. If the incident is true it is deplorable.Such dishonesty is not rare.I would like to bring the following incident to notice of Fellow TM's. http://law.duke.edu/journals/dltr/articles/2001dltr0035.html Even after committing such crime,Dr.Roizmann did not recieve any punishment.He is still working at University of Chicago.This is disgusting:mad:.He should be counting his remaining grey hair sitting in a prison. His evidence is huge.As such this cannot be a fake.I SUPPORT HIM.It is unfortunate that some people are flaming him.If they understand the effort involved in research(especially in Real Sciences),They would not indulge in such hasty behaviour. Not to demean anybody,but that's my opinion.

Hi Econ, I have played Empire Earth.But it is little too long(13+ epochs stone-Nano).The game is pleasantly rich.AI is better(AoE shows dumber side of its AI during attack.Defence AI is good.).Graphics are light years ahead. But ,in my opinion,Age of Mythology is even better.The single player campaign ,with Arkantos is fascinating.Do not Miss it!!!.

I prefer following a)Ricky Ponting's pull and hook.They are the dream shots whom any cricket purist would like to watch.Cricket is not just a game.It's an art. b) Shane Warne's flipper. c) A game of Age of Empires II :conquerors. d) 'Meteora' a rock album.

Hi folks, Here are my favs 1) Linkin Park(Meteora is the best rock album i could lay may hands on) 2) Train ('My Private Nation' is a classic.'Ordinary',OST of Spiderman II is higlhy recommended) 3) U2 (Bono rules.Any additional information is superflous). 4) Bryan Adams(Only 'Open Road') 5) Evanescence 6) Aerosmith Regarding female singers,they tend to concentrate more on maximizing skin show than on the improving musical content of the album(Of course there are exceptions).

Hi folks, Lord of Rings:The Return of King.With out any doubt it is the best ever:tup:. 'Shawshank redemption' , 'Schindler's list' ,'Close Encounters of 3rd Kind' come close behind.Some how i cannot appreciate 'Titanic'. Regarding Hindi(Bollywood) Movies 'lagaan' is the best.Majority of other Hindi movies are pretty ordinary. But the movie which i watched and later repented :mad: was 'Mars Attacks'.Never watch it. Hi Mr.Ritwik, MTech's have a small edge over Btech's for PhD.some students,after completing Mtech's from IISc and IIT's,go abroad for PhD.The Deciding factor's are(not in the order of importance) a)University(should be a good one ) b)Mtech Thesis (This is single most important one.Prof's are going to see your thesis. c)GRE d)acad's This information was given by one of my friends.He got his Mtech from IIT Kanpur and is now pursuing his doctoral degree in a Canadian Univ.

Hi folks, Great awhig!You hit the nail on it's head.IIT's glaringly lack research facilities.The speciality is that they are good only when compared to some ordinary Universities(by Indian standards) like Osmania etc.,.Normally in many great to good univ's,student's benefit from Univ reputation.Unfortunately these IIT's(and it's faculty) benefit from the reputation of their students.It is not a hyperbole to say that they have some mediocre faculty. But I observed one thing,one can see a deluge of res. papers from chinese universities(like Tsinhua etc.,).For finding a (good) res. paper from IIT faculty, one needs a Electron Microscope.And there is no significant difference between Indian Univs and their CHinese Counterparts.

Hi, Depends on your temperament.If you enjoy research and innovation,go for it.You must be careful in choosing your path.Ph.D is all about fame and recognition.Extra time of 3 years is not great.One thing ,PhD in science takes about 5 years.But in engineering one can complete in 3 years.So time is not a factor Best of Luck

Are publications important? Most of the professors ask for publications in journals.In my opinion it is impossible for a non-Doctoral student to propose a new idea and prove it(by complex math).So what are the kind of publications are the non-doctoral students supposed to have.Comparisions?Or presenting known ideas in a attractive manner?:hmm: If anyone of you have any experience regarding these publications,please put it forward.

Hi ppl, I have a peculiar problem.Iam planning to apply for PhD in Fall 2006.I will complete my ME(Masters in ENgineering) on June 2005.I have a professor(head of Dept) who is ready to give me a good(in fact very good) reco.But the problem is that he is gonna retire on March 2005.Then he is going abroad(UK).Now can i take a recommendation letter from him now(say October 2004) and use it for Fall 2006 admission?Please help me out.iam in a fix Thanking in Advance.

Hi all, I would like to know how GPA is obtained from percentage.Is GPA a comparative one or a absolute one.Are Acads from differenet countries considered on a common scale?(Universities of some countries award marks in copious amounts(e.g., China) and some are very stingy(e.g.,JNTU,India)).Not to demean any body.Iam just putting forward the information i have. Note:USC(University of south California) considers 85% of china as equivalent to first class in India. Waiting for your comments
