My score range as on the day of the CBT was:193-250 Listening:20 Structure/Writing:13-29 Reading:26 My final score report says: Listening:20 Structure/Written:28 Reading:26 My score:247 Essay rating:5.5. Thank you and i agree with your points. I did take around 40 minutes for this essay. I don't think so!..may be you got a lil confused..On should be "ONE". If you think that this concl. is not upto the mark ,plz give me some suggestions.I think its not good but it will work...but I want to write a good concl. If one seems to be polished due to external appearances, it is just that he “seems” to be so! I mean to say..that he just appears to be polished...but actually...he's not!Its just his good clothes,etc. that make him look polished.I hope this explanatuon is sufficient! I fully agree with this statement. Appearances can be deceptive. Many a times it does happen that the outer side or appearance of a person really charms. This is as good as living in a fool’s paradise because a person with a charming exterior may not always be good at heart. On the other hand, if a person is all in tatters, it may not necessarily mean that he is poor and a simpleton. It could be that due to certain circumstances his condition is such otherwise who knows…he could even be an intellectual! Shakespeare has very rightly said – “All that glitters is not gold.” If one seems to be polished due to external appearances, it is just that he “seems” to be so! Infact, the person could be a real dud! It is a well – known fact that everything that gleams is not necessarily gold. Similarly, the person whose external appearance is mesmerizing might not be worth the praise that he may get due to his outer appearance. Judging a person by external appearance is quite similar to judging a book by its cover…ignoring the inside …the contents that are the actual worth of the book! It could be that an intellectual is disregarded due to his shabby appearance, as aforementioned. On the contrary, a cunning person who ‘appears’ to be simple could deceive one! External appearances are usually fake. People put on a masque to hide their weaknesses. It is this masque that deceives the whole world! I have no idea about GRE but yes Toefl topics are simpler than what we usually get at our indian schools in exams.I think the reason for this is the format of the essays! Thank you for the advice for the Listening section.Yes,I'm giving CBT. as for my structure....it has improved. The Reading section ,I know , has more time than actually reqd. Though hard work is the key to success yet luck has its own role to play. “When people succeed, it is because of hard work. Luck has nothing to do with success.” I partially disagree with this quotation. Luck plays a very important role in determining one’s success or failure. In the hope of succeeding, I might put in my best and still not succeed. It could also be possible that I don’ put in much of efforts and yet perform amazingly well. Luck or destiny is basically responsible for my success. If I have an exam and I fall ill just before the exam, my illness could contribute to my poor performance at the exam. This is my ill luck! Though I work hard towards my goal, yet I couldn’t accomplish it due to my illness – this is my bad luck! It’s rightly said –“99%perspiration 1% inspiration!” in other words, hard work does pay. On the other hand, it could be that I work hard and don’t succeed. If I’m taking an exam and the examinee next to me is cheating, it may be that in order to save his skin, he puts the blame on me .As a result, I’m penalized for cheating when I’m sure I didn’t even a cheat a single question!
