  1. Thank you guys. The other thing is that I have 2 schools that I haven't heard from after interviews, and I know that they have sent out acceptance and rejection already (gradcafe), is it appropriate for me to send the coordinator an e-mail asking for my status? My best guess to keep my hope up, is that these schools have an implied wait list.
  2. Hi guys, I was accepted to a PhD program in Accounting, and even though I am allowed to wait till April 15 to accept, they let me know that fellowships are available on the "first come, first serve" basis. I still want to wait for some other schools but the fear of not receiving the fellowship (tuition waiver) kinda scare me. Advice from anyone who has been through something like this is greatly appreciated. (is the "first come, first serve" thing just for luring the applicant?) Thank you
  3. I also applied to UT Dallas and the status is also incomplete, due to the lack of final transcript, but what the hell, I think it is supposed to be sent when I'm done with my master this year.
  4. My flyout experience was pretty similar, although for me it's the accounting PhD at a U.S school. Regarding the shortlist, what makes you think that it is pre-ranked? I kinda thought about that after the interview too, as I talked to other applicants (3 of us in total). For the same interviewer, we were asked different questions. For me, the professor kinda dived into the literature and asked me a bunch of technical questions about methodologies and research interests. For the other 2 applicants, they dealt with more general questions such as why this school, why accounting, etc. We were the first group to fly out, and the university will have the other group coming in this week (7 in total for 3 slots). It's really nerve-cracking during this period (I think all of us applicants can relate :)
  5. Hi guys, I am planning to apply for Phd program in Accounting next Fall (2015). My research focus is on the changes in financial reporting quality during the IFRS/GAAP convergence, and my preferred method of research is archival. Listed below are my backgrounds info: Accounting and Finance (double major) BA from a medium sized private university (totally not elite): 3.94 GPA Master in Accounting (in process) at the same school: 4.00 GPA GMAT (taken in 2013): 760 Quant backgrounds: Bus calculus, 2 statistics classes as undergrad, 3 economics classes as undergrad, Financial system modelling, Econometrics and Microeconomic analysis at Grad level, and some potential economic classes as electives for my MAcc program. Work as RA for an accounting professor for 4 months (up until now). No relevant working experience in accounting. It would be great if you guys can give me feedback on my profile and advises on which schools I should target, given my background and research interest. Also, i'm wondering is there any quick way to screen professors/researchers that have the same research interest as I am (I've been reading papers and articles but if you know a very quick way to find out their research interest, that will be awesome). Thank you all in advance.
