Without sounding too thirsty, does anyone know for sure that they’re going to turn down UC Davis?

Yessss!!!! Get paid. You only get one chance to negotiate your income for the next 5 years. At the worst, they say they won’t increase your stipend. Plus, it may signal to you how badly they want you to come. I’ve had multiple of my offer explicitly state “if you have better offers tell us and we’ll try to match.” I’m pretty sure the expectation is that there is negotiation involved.
