  1. I was accepted on March 1st. Declined the offer earlier this week. The deadline they gave me was April 3rd to decide. So I guess if there are second round offers they will be coming out then.
  2. U of T first round MA offers are out. Just got one.
  3. Just got an offer to one-year MSc. Econ at LSE.
  4. Thanks! It was sent yesterday BC time, early this morning EST. I am a domestic applicant.
  5. First round PhD offers from UBC are out. I got an offer this morning!
  6. The guy on GC writing in all caps is a troll right?
  7. It is the opinion of all the professor's I've spoken with in my department (Canadian school) that in terms of placements Queen's shouldn't be considered a part of the "big 4" anymore. There placements from PhD, and MA program are a lot closer to what you see from McMaster, Simon Fraser, and McGill than U of T, UBC, and Western. From what I've heard, the placements at Queen's have really gone downhill in the last 10 years. That being said, I don't think U of T is a great choice for a "stepping stone" MA to get into American schools either. It is much too large of a cohort to get high grades, and good references. Also, U of T posts their MA placements and you can see that most who go on to a PhD do so at U of T. Personally, I think you should be looking at UBC, and Western if your goal is a US phd, and not Queen's or U of T.
  8. I declined my offer from Queen’s today. So they should be sending at least one more out. They’re calling their first round offers this week, so next round will likely happen after that.
  9. Not sure, but that makes sense. Hard to send out 2nd round before they hear from everyone. I wish western was part of that coordination.
  10. I also got an offer from western, but haven’t heard from ubc or u of t yet either. The email from Queen’s said “we would be grateful if you indicate your firm acceptance by Wednesday, March 20. Please note that for this year we have coordinated on this deadline with the Economics Departments at UofT and UBC to allow prospective students to make informed decisions.” This might mean that if Queen’s is sending out offers UBC and UofT should be doing so soon as well.
  11. Thanks a lot. Domestic student and Canadian undergrad from just outside "big four". Math courses up to and including graduate-level real analysis, 3.98 GPA, 2 years RA experience, very solid reference letters. Didn't submit GRE.
  12. I can confirm that it is true. Of the 25k in funding, 10k is from TAship and the remaining 15k is from the Queen's Graduate Award Scholarship.
  13. Saw a Minnesota rejection of GC, anyone else heard anything from them today?
  14. I am strongly considering it yes. It is in my top two choices in Canada. Going to wait and hear from the other schools I applied too though.
