  1. Advisable to take the TOEFL. Will help in the visa process. If you are good at English, you dont have to put in too much effort. If you have studied in a english medium institution all throughout and have worked in an english speaking country (apart from India) then you can request for a waiver. I still recommend that you take it. I was in the same dilemma but have decided to take this test.
  2. Kelley comes across as a more regional school. But is rather cost effective. Compared to Cox you will have to shell out some more, i guess. SMU is better known internationally perhaps - FT ranks it at #60 in the world. Kelley is not ranked by FT. But in comparing programs, I would say Kelley is far better. Are you getting a schol from Cox ? I would go for Kelley. Check out the placement stats, enquire with the Career Mgmt office. Contact a student. Do let us know when you make your decision and get in !
  3. Excellent score Mr. Obelixous [clap] What schools are you targeting ?
  4. dihazzahid, The idea of consulting a lawyer is a good one. This is what I know (I am still learning about these things). Labor certification is employer specific and not related to you. Many companies file for LC without the knowledge of the employees. Its basically a test of the labour available at a particular time and place. The I 140 / 485 are where you come in. Since they have used the LC for another person too, I think you should be safe. All the best !

    F1 Visa Interview

This is nothing more than a guess but i dont think the stamp will bother the VO. He is more concerned abt 1. you staying back in the US 2. your funds to cover expenses I would suggest you enlist some visa counselling services. Dont take a chance. Where have you been admitted ?
  6. Congrats redindend ! Kelley is a good school overall, better known for finance. SMU is decent, probably makes sense if you live in Dallas and intend to work there as well. What is your profile like (GMAT/ GPA/Work Ex etc) ? Are you getting any aid ?
  7. PR is littered with bugs. If you manage to get to the tests, there are many repeat questions and of low difficulty level. Verbal is much better than Quant. Use PR to build up stamina , edurance levels.
  8. I had applied for an IDP a few years ago. You need a passport with visa stamped, pp sized photograph, Rs100 Address on PP must match that on the drivers license. Takes 1 day and is valid for a year. Be warned that in some places IDP is considered equivalent to a learners license. Its validity is shortened to 1 month.
  9. Any experienced applicant will tell you that your GMAT score is just one factor in the admission decision. Do you have work ex at a well known firm ? Do you have international exp ? What is the nature of your work ? Are you in charge of resources ? Do you have good extra curricular activities / notable achievements ? answer these questions, my friend and you will be able to judge for yourself... :2cents:
  10. which school are you targeting ? I think only a few of the UK schools require a GMAT. Schools like LSB, MSB etc need good scores, others treat it aspect of your application as a 'hygiene factor', with the cutoff being around 510. You need to have atleast 3 years of WE though.. You have excellent quant skills...be patient with your verbal aptitute and you can cross 650...
  11. amit, you are brainy too...you hit somewhere around 750 right, what are you waiting for ? a nobel ? actually the 05 in my name refers to the number of years it gonna take me to enter the hallowed portals of a b school :o Financial issues prevented me from applying this year, also I wanted time to research and apply to the right schools...so I'm gonna aim for Fall 2006. A HUGE problem is financing the MBA, as a fellow Indian, I'm sure you understand. :D BTW, how are you managing your finances ? You can PM me if this remotely involves breaking a bank...:D
  12. quick question, why didnt ya apply to MIT ?
  13. amit, Yale definitely benefits from the fact that Yale Univ is world renowned, I think the bschool kinda piggybacks on the univ's reputation. I suggest you read through any available material, get a feel of the school, write to alumni... If you get a chance, visit the campus. I had visited Yale few years ago and was impressed. Didnt speak to any students though. The aura of MIT Sloan is something else though...
  14. i think there is no standard practice relating to scratch paper, so you could write the formulas if you wanted too. Otherwise, the 5 min break could prove handy.
