Well..here are my 2 cents. Why do you think that "It" and "dangers" need to be the same in terms of singular/plural. Replace It w/ People -- People recognized that the dangers... dangers is trying to say that there are many effects of the war not just one. now "dangers of nuclear war" is being compared so "those" is appropriate. Hth
