  1. Congrats to all getting the admission. Quite frankly, it is not easy to get money from Umich EECS. This is the third time (2003 Fall, 2005 Fall, 2006 Fall) i receive Umich EE admissions. But I could not get any financial aid last two times. I don't have much hope this time.
  2. Imfraj, I don't think there is any relationship between when did you submit application and when will you get results. As long as you submitted it before the deadline, you should get the same treatment as those who submitted early. I am still waiting for Caltech, UCSD and stanford. I really really hate that. It is even worse than reject you in march. Late decisions mess up all my plans.
  3. Gforce, I am applying EE PhD. Still waiting for Stanford/Caltech/UCSD. No one replies my email/phone call.
  4. They rejected me 3 weeks ago. EE PhD
  5. I am still waiting for UCSD and Caltech.
  6. Dan_E , I have a question about Umich EE. I was admitted by Umich for EE PhD but no aid was mentioned. I heard a rumor that Umich EE dept. has some financial difficulties and it is very difficult to get financial aid even you are PhD candidate. Is that true?
  7. All i know is all TA or RA are already filled by old students. In ECE dept, they gives 2X one-year fellowship a year. That means all the new RA/TA position are filled by those fellows whose fellowships just ended. I know some PhD students cannot get money even after a year and passing the qualifying exam. Frankly, I know nothing about CS dept. but i don't think they are richer than ECE dept.
  8. I am applying for PhD, area: RF circuit
  9. Received today, Snail mail dated April 08. Still waiting UCSD, Caltech. Probably I won't receive any admission this year.:(
  10. I am a grad. student in OSU EE. I think you should you to NCSU. It is not easy to get aid in OSU either.
  11. i would rank: USC>VaTech>PSU. For your case, i would choose the best school i can to get MS and PhD at the same school. I have a similar plan as jerrymouse--going to less famous school for MS then go to more famous ones for PhD. What I find is very difficult to change school. I am now in OSU and try to apply some famous schools. My boss feel mad and my plan ruin our relationships. Anyway, be careful of this type of thing, not many professors like their students change school after getting a master degree.
  12. As far as I know. The stipend of OSU fellowships should be $1600/month
  13. Still waiting for UCSD, GaTech, and Caltech. Area: RF circuit
  14. I think UIUC is a better choice.
  15. Umich is too expensive and it is in financial turmoil. It is not easy to get money even you are already second -yaer PhD. If you are very rich, then it is ok. In my opinion, the highest quality/tuition ratio should be UT Austin.
  16. You should try anyway, I won't hurt even they ignore you, right? To be honest, most prof. won't reply your email, they will just delete it without reading it.
  17. I think Purdue is the best choice. UR has an excellent program in optics. Since your a Comp Eng guy, Purdue is your best options.
  18. What is the phone no.? I call 626-395-6346, they said they will contact me by email. I call (626) 395-8462, the machine answer the phone.
  19. Me too.:hmm: :( :( Caltech only admit less than 30 students. I don't have much hope.
  20. When will they make decision? What take them so long? How many people are still waiting?
  21. EEPHDWANNABE, you received email ot snail mail?
