  1. hi ctg, great score..waiting to hear from you on the new format...congrats and enjoy your vacation. shanx
  2. thanks blowfish...but i think considering the competition in these schools like INSEAD or the IIMA in India, a higher gmat score would help though i understand that it is not everything. also i have read on this forum that if u r an indian applicant the expectation is that you shd have scored atleast 20-30 points more than the average. i want to start mba in fall 2007, so i guess i still have time. thanks dailymailme...
  3. hi, well...the story is not new to this forum...got a 650...have to repeat it as my quant percentile is 66...god...what school would accept that.. in quant.. strangely during the exam i felt that i kept getting easy questions, then i started double-checking them, finally didn't have time to focus on the harder ones which came after 25..i can't remember too much on the quant, though the first 32 questions were easy and 10-20 was mostly DS, which was my weakest area...so i mostly lost points here...then was difficult to recoup.. in verbal ..not a great score...but the some pointers, which could help others... difficulty level was the same as the OG..and i had a couple of CRs that were just modified from Gmatprep tests..so why only 38 coz i was bad at SC ....and hadn't worked enough on getting better at it...was good at RC and CR. got a BF CR at 4/5 and another 30/31. i got 4 passages ..one before 10, another before 20, one in the mid-20's and another in last few questions. the test started with a SC. i am planning to apply in 2007 and only to one year programs like INSEAD or IIMA in India. the req in these schools is above 700 as the avg scores hover around 700. ooen good thing which probbaly ensures atleast the 650 was that i did not panic after my dismal quant performance and did verbal in a calm frame of mind. sorry - long post, i wish i had had more time to use this great forum, another lesson for the next time. guys.. guess i was a little bitter and disappointed when i wrote the previous post...i did not thank anybody ...and was wallowing in my misery...i wanted to get it right the first time but like somebody's tagline says on the forum "when u fail, don't forget the lessons" thanks to erin for the the excellent forum...but for this forum, i am not sure that i wouuld have got this far to ursula - who was an inspiration when i started looking at doing gmat at the beginning of the year to spidey -- for the excellent SC notes to tictaktoe -- for the last day revision notes to deren - for the OG math link when I needed it the most as I could not find the book to divya_arora -- after I read ur post, I felt happy that I had somebody to model my situation on -- as I was very apprehensive about quant, always knew that I had to have worked the problems before to do them in the exam. i am going to take some time to think about when to repeat the gmat...but i will try to be around and help and learn more through the forum.
  4. ctg, tried to get dates for dec end..website seems to have a problem. hope u got ur dates. guys, i gave one gmatprep, got 660 Q41, V 40...was done in by DS and SC..what can i do to improve in both of these...is OG the best for SC....what abt DS...any suggestions ... shanx
  5. deren, congrats..u got an amazing math score...and all the best for ur apps. shanx
  6. ctg, i also have 15 days to go ...i just gave one PP y'day, got 760 but that shd be due to the fact that I have done the entire OG, so it was pretty easy. Guess Gmatprep and the GMAT sets shd be the real indicators of the scores. mav, for RC..I find it useful to read the passage like it were a very interesting piece...I find taking notes takes time...so read the passage the first time with the thought as to where it is going... when u read the opening sentence, the first para, is the author doing a critique, is he proposing a solution, etc...this takes some time to get used to but I have found it helpful. Also I write down on a piece of paper what I shd focus on..main idea/topic/scope/tone etc..this helps me keep my concentration. I was also bad at CR 2 weeks back, esp at weaken questions but now with OG practice, I have improved. shanx
  7. i know it is a sinking feeling when u have put in all the effort ..maybe some more prep wll help u....i am taking it on the 27th... register for the month end..before the test admin change... shanx
  8. hi bright..what happened...hope u had a good test... shanx
  9. i got this excel sheet which classifies the OG 10the edition questions as Easy, Medium and Hard..got it on this site only....look at twinsplitter's post on finishing the GMAT.. i have started OG SC....Quant is my weakest link ...so trying to do problems everyday..finished with OG RC and CR and DS
  10. hi vaithy, taking it on 27th dec...how long shd one take to finish OG..this is my worry since y'day...coz i am still plowing thro' OG PS,DS and RC. Yet to start SC. Done with CR...what say u .... One thing I noticed is that I get 75-80% right on easy, medium and hard questions !!! any idea why - what am I doing wrong .... shanx
  11. thanks guys.... anotherlooser....understood that these have to solved as permutation problems..missed that while solving them...
  12. hi bright, wish u luck ...for ur prep in the last mile .....i am working on OG still...hope to start giving full length tests soon.. vbakre - i am giving gmat on dec 27th...how did u take to finish OG...coz i have been finished CR, still working on PS, DS and RC. I haven't started SC yet. what do u think... shanx
  13. hi deren, how did u solve in both cases - "and" "or" - want to know the steps, other than just counting the numbers - for I found problems with very large numbers in some GMAT Plus question sets. thanks
  14. hi please help me solve this kind of questions - Q:how many numbers between 100 and 999 have 1 in one's digit and 3 in ten's digit?
  15. hi vaithy... i am also at the same level on quant but i found 1000 PS and DS on this forum..i don't have the links now...think these are the GMAT+ questions from angelfire, i don't agree with all the answers and there are no explanations, but for practice it is good to do these tests - 30q in 20 mins and 16q in 25 mins. u shd find them on the math forums... shanx
