Hello, In my PhD application's SOP , I've cited some papers, do I need to add a reference section at the end?

For example, Robinson(2012) established .. bla bla

Do I need to mention the whole paper's title and authors name at the end, especially in a reference section?

I am not sure if that's the best approach for an effective SOP, talking about a paper I mean.
