meghago
According to a recent poll, owning and living in a freestanding house on its own land is still a goal of a majority of young adults, like that of earlier generations. (A) like that of earlier generations (B) as that for earlier generations © just as earlier generations did (D) as have earlier generations (E) as it was of earlier generations
gmatnov12
Is the OA A;I will post explanation if that is the ans.
rays28
Should be E. Only E is parallel, '...goal of a majority..' 'as it was of earlier ..'
maverick_andy
IMO B As RAYS28 said Only E is parallel, '...goal of a majority..' 'as it was of earlier ..'. Object with Object

zafer
ok.... the first thing you should be little more careful is the form of the comparison..... X is Y (AS) (Z is W) be careful when you see a sentence including "BE" is compared....... According to a recent poll, owning and living in a freestanding house on its own land is still a goal of a majority of young adults, like that of earlier generations. (A) like that of earlier generations (B) as that for earlier generations © just as earlier generations did (D) as have earlier generations (E) as it was of earlier generations (E is the only answer.....) beatit
According to a recent poll, owning and living in a freestanding house on its own land is still a goal of a majority of young adults, In Choice E, what does "it" refer to? There is an "it" (in red above) present in the original sentence that refers to a "freestanding house". For choice E to be correct, "it" should point to "goal". Any comments? Thanks for that "to be" tip. I just realized. However here the comparison is not goal. Comparison is "owning and living" of old times Vs current. :2cents:
