  1. Q1) imo A each shirt costs $15 each sweater costs $25 avg given as $21 => 15x + 25y = 21(x+y) => 3x=2y clearly the number of sweaters sold(y) is greater than the number of shirts sold(x). SUFFICIENT stmt2: the total price for shirts and sweaters = $420 => 15x + 25y = 420 => x & y can be (23, 3) OR (8, 12) so number of sweaters sold can be greater OR less than the number of shirts sold. INSUFFICIENT. Q2). refer this Q4) imo D x & y are +ve integers, is xy even? stmt1: 5x-4y even since 4y is even for any integer value of y, 5x has to be even, since given that 5x-4y even. => 5x is even => x even => xy is even. SUFFICIENT stmt2: 6x+7y is even since 6x is even for any integer value of x, 7y has to be even, since given that 5x-4y even. => 7y is even => y is even => xy is even. SUFFICIENT
  2. imo A. statement-I alone is sufficient to reach to the answer. mean of 10 one digit numbers is 8.8 => sum total is 88. in order the sum total of 10 one digit numbers to 88, there has to be at the least eight 9s and others 2 can be 8s e.g., the series can be 8,8,9,9,9,9,9,9,9 OR 7,9,9,9,9,9,9,9,9 can u think of any other set of numbers - I think NO. so in any case the median will be 9. and this is what the Q is asking. SUFFICIENT.
  3. T-REX, Gaurav, How do you justify the usage of past perfect tense in chocie B?? In 1981 children in the United States spent an average of slightly less than two and a half hours a week doing household chores; by 1997 that figure had grown to nearly six hours a week. it doesn't seem to be a GMAT type Q, but given the choices, D is the lesser evil as most of us agreed....
  4. if u square both sides, everything gets cancelled out. so it gives nothing. so A is INSUFFICIENT Hence as explained by arjmen, ans shd be E
  5. M+W=1400 (equation-I) 42% of 1400 = 36% of M + 50% of W. (equation-II)
  6. I think the prediction happened much before the economy growth. so past perfect is natural choice.
  7. how it results in different values as sum?
  8. imo E. both the choices essentially gives the same info in a different way and it is not SUFFICIENT
  9. we are comparing "mathematics" with "a creative activity". It certainly is not a NOUN comparison. when we compare "mathematics" with "activity" - it is NOUN comparison geekybiz1, you could be right. I think the second reason sounds great. I buy that.
  10. A it is. discussed many times in the past. 3y^2+7y=x =>y(3y+7)=x since given that x & y are integers, hence x is multiple of y. SUFFICIENT
  11. thnx. OA is A. it's a kinda tricky Q. tempting to go for C.
  12. thnx GMAT-HELP for the explanation. The answer indeed is E.
