    area of a triangle

A for me too. Same explanation as ve_boss
  2. I get 19 as well. The problem doesn't seem that hard, and everyone seems to be on the same page. I think the OA is wrong.
  3. sorry for the duplicate post. For what its worth, I got 19 as well.
  4. A for me too. I picked A because of the context of the sentence. Also, B is out because "due to the" doesn't make sense. Same for C and E. D is wrong because "although" doesn't make sense in the context of the sentence. Although is typically used in sentences like: Although he is rich, he is very stingy.
  5. D for me. We are comparing sources of light, hence the plural.
  6. I am not sure that this sentence is correct, at least in GMAT land. What does "his" refer to? The name Renoir is never mentioned in the sentenced, so as far as I can tell, the pronoun "his" does not have a clear antecedent. Just my two cents.
  7. You can find Powerprep here: Gorilla Test Prep | Download Free GMAT Practice Exams
  8. I actually know that the OA is D. claims to be able .... to assess is correct.
  9. C for the first one for me as well.
  10. I would use Like here. "As" is used to introduce subordinate clauses, "like" can be used for phrases. Clauses have their own subject and verb. I think using this rule, we should use "like" in the given case.
  11. I agree with both you guys, but I would have clicked on D without thinking. It just seemed right, and E seems unidiomatic. Questions like this are hard for me.
  12. Agree with larbgai. B is the correct answer. There is another way to look at this question. I will consider only the second statement. 2) n + m = n^2 + 5 n can be either even or odd. Consider both the cases: a) n is odd => n^2 is odd as well. odd + 5 = even. Therefore n + m = some even number. since we had already decided that n is odd, therefore m has to be odd as well. b) n is even => n^2 is even. Therefore, n^2 + 5 = odd. So n+m = odd. Since n is even, m has to be odd. Since m is odd in both cases, it has to be odd.

    OG 11 vs. OG 9

I found it to be quite useful. The explanations are not as good as OG 11, but the questions are still real, and the explanations correct.

    just do it

IMHO, A is correct. "appears that it has" not idiomatic. "appears to have" is correct.
  15. A lot of people on this site have recommended fixing a date for the exam, and then studying for it. Personally, I am not following it. I am currently preparing for the exam, and will continue to do so till I feel confident. The rationale is that I want to prepare without any pressure, and will take the exam once I feel confident. One approach you may try is to take a break of a few months. Maybe start preparing in January or February. Instead of worrying about the exam, focus on the quality of your preparation. If you do 10 SCs from OG, then read the explanation of all the 10 questions, and not just the ones you got wrong. Analyze each mistake, find the patterns in your mistakes. This is true for both Quantitative and Verbal. Keep preparing till you feel confident, and then give the exam. Just my two cents.
