  2. Hi GMater-1, Mba_asp,rainbownlife Thanks for your wishes. Crazy One : The study pattern would differ from each individual to individual But overall I would say that your plan seem good to me. Give a diagnostic test and find what is your weakest area. Try to devote more time on it. By weak area I mean , you should come be able to pinpoint the subgroup like saying I am weak in reading Comprehension rtaher than just saying i am weak in Verbal. 2) OG is must , so it is good to start with it. 3) I have not used Kaplan premier so cannnot comment 4) Kaplan 800 is for difficult Qs so best to leave untill u are done with other books Hope this Helps!
  3. Gave my GMAt Test Yesterday Q 50 V 38 Overall 730 Not too bad. I am happy although I was expecting 750:) Quant Test Level- Same as GmatPrep I spend only 10 minutes for first 8 question. Probably i got some qs wrong in earlier Qs that cost me some marks in Quant. I was expecting a score of 51. I did not see any too tough Qs. One or two probabaility Qs but doable Verbal Test Level- Same as GMAT Prep again 4 RC all easy and understandable although few Qs were tricky CR - I was ok in CR so it was ok SC - Same level as OG , doable . While studying I spend 70% of my verbal time on SC still SC was my weakest area and still is . I believe I got quite a few wrong in my exam else I would have got a higher score in verbal may be v40 (Human greediness its never enough:) ) I am aware what I did wrong in SC , I am writing my mistake here so that others can learn from my mistake If I were to study SC again I would ( well were is correct here as it is subjenctive mood ) 1) Get a good and concise grammer book and study it 2) Buy manhattan SC book - I bought is so late that i rcvd it only one day before my exam :p. I did not read much but others have highly recommdeded it 3) Be Active Reader- I was studying SC like a novel and while reading I was sleeping in between. Wake up and continue.... I did not log the issues I found. My suggestion: Whevere you find new idiom / new rule / your mistake log it in your notebook and it would be good to revise them. In nutshell be a active reader and not a passive reader like I was :sleepy: The Books I used and liked for SC 1) Kaplan Verbal Book- The grammer in appendix is very good , concise and to the point , hats off 2) Kaplan 800 - I liked as it has good Qs and good explanations 3) The Bible offcourse- OG OG is must for everything. The level of explanations is really great. Writer has taken pains to explain why some choice r wrong Background - Indian, Engineer as most of us these days:) Had I given GMAt in my school days I would have definately got 51 in Quant. I am not bragging but just want to say that most of us might have forgotten few things Most of us have rusted memories and we just need to sharpen it by practise and devoting some time In one mock tests I got one Qs wrong as I was unable to find LCM correctly, that was a shock to me as well as an eye opener. I realized due to heavy reliance on computers and calc I have rusted and I need some practise as well.Untill my college days i did not use calc so my calculation were good The I learned to be humble and ready to learn/revise key things Last Word of Advice - To succeed in test i think following are important 1) Commitment 2) Consistency - I was devoting time on wekends but hardly on weekdays. Its no good. Consistency is very important and one should try to spend some time on weekdays as well 3) Confidence- YES YOU CAN DO IT Paint a positive picture for the test day. I am generally overconfident so that was fine for me.... 4)Alertness - Specially in Q DS , it is a slippery road. They want to you slip . You have to be alert and ask few Qs before ansering a) Number may not be integer - so check for fraction b) Number may not be positive- so double check for -ve number etc I belive - Be sincere, have good intentions, work hard, give your best shot and then leave everything to God. Donot worry too much about your scores this is just a small, although important, part of selection Test Center Environment was quite good and staff was helpful. Do take something to eat and drink and make good use of breaks
  4. Hi , Can I assume the writer as "Female" Well I am not a sexist but I read somewhere when gender of the person is unknown, it is acceptable in formal english to assume the (unknown ) person as Female So i frequently write something like Author needs to provide more evidence to support "HER" Argument. Is it Acceptable in GMAT land ?? Else how can i get round this issue??? Please reply as test date is 17March , it would be a pity if I loose marks beacause of this isssue Thanks

  11. ESSAY QUESTION: "Employees should expect no privacy while on the job, even when engaging in personal communication via telephone or e-mail. Employers are paying for their employees' time and have a reasonable expectation that this time is spent solely on work-related activities." Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the position stated above. Support your views with reasons and examples from your own experience, observations, or reading. The issue that employee should not expect privacy while on job is controversial one. This issue is increasingly important in this age of digital world when employee has many methods round the clock such as telephone, mobile, email, chat room, face book etc to communicate with his/her family or friend. Many people believe such a use of resources for personal reasons while on job is immoral and detrimental to the company that is paying for empolyee's time. I perosnally believe that if such actions happen within limits it is good for employees and may even help the employer by incrasing worker efficiency.I will elaborate key points further. To start with, humans are not robots. Humans can and need to express their emotions.Their efficiency depends not only on their work experience but also depend lot on their emotional state. Many a times we feel quite better after talking to our family or friends. Parents feel happy after seeing their child playing etc. This the reason in big corporation like Cisco and others , they have a child minding facility in house. Employees with very young child can leave their children in their nursery and can see them anytime they like. The company know that it is better an employee waste 10 or 20 minute but work the rest of her time very efficiently rather than working so called 8 hours with her half mind worrying about her child. Secondly, most of the employees are mature enough not to misutilze the facilities given by employer.Nevertheless I agree with the other view, if an employee misuses the facilities he/she may need to be cautioned and suitable further action may be required. Furthermore, if company restrict the use of these facilities, their action may be seen as draconian and create a resentment in the workers. Such an action may have detrimental affect on the employee morale. In conclusion, I would say that strict restrictions on use of telephones or email would harm the company more than helping it. Decent use of these resource within limits would help in increased productivity , employee satisfaction and better employee-employer relations. _____________________________________________________ With this kind of response Can i expect 4.0+ ? Thanks in advance
  12. Hi Dwarrior & Anand Thanks for explaing the scenerio in detail. I understand the logic behind it now. One More Query! I read also that in case where clockwise and anticlockwise scenerio do not matter No of permumations for N objects = (n-1)! /2 Can someone give a example when the anticlockwise and clockwise sceneri does not matter. In the test Qs can I assume that direction does matter unless otherwise explicitly stated?
