  1. agree with the shooter .. there are two factors.. cost n quality... if quality is not upto the mark of what jap n western companies require , will they still buy from america even if it is too cheap. aks
  2. but the great erin never cane back.:sleepy:
  3. a,b,e are incorrect as erin has explained. but c n d are also incorrect because they cud not refer back to the price of automobile insurance. n consumers could not be free of damage claims n etc.
  4. hi to all , being is usually incorrect in GMAT,but there are cases when being is correct and one of notes on sc state rule as mentioned below.please explain as i could not understand this rule. verb + adj / verb-ing + prep + verb-ing: Note that being as verb-ing, is required in all such instances: · Would you mind being quiet for a moment? · I look forward to being interviewed on the current affairs programme. · She was afraid of being accused of a crime which she did not commit. · I am tired of being taken for granted and expected to do all the housework.
  5. hi erin ........ i thank you froom the bottom of my heart. aks
  6. :):grad: thanks 800bob,i think others will also be benfitted from your advice.
  7. sorry bro nothing to learn from this creepy question. you can have look at the great 800bob 's explaination. sometimes old is not gold.:)
  8. thought this q is a bit old i thought to have others view on my view:) unfortunately i do not agree to any of the choices given. i think correct construction of the sentence should be - a parallel processor's capacity is limited not by .....but by ..... limited should precede both not and but . please correct me if i am incorrect .....!
  9. i quick understanding of the INTENT of sentence will let you that ans is d. as....plans require doctors to see more patients and causing them to spend less time with one patient.
  10. agree with arjmen,the great.:)
  11. time to step in ..... it's clear that two statements alone are not suffient to ans. so ans is between c n e .with .5 probability. though we will move ahead n consider two statements in conjuction.. now we have one certain point(0,1) and two unknown point to work up with (1,p) n (p,13).if we draw line x=1,then we know for sure that point(1,p) is on this line. similarly (p,13) on y=13.n we will find that two lines intersect at (1,13). other point being (0,1) gives the slope +ve. hope it 's clear !! so ans is c.probabilty =1.
  12. i agree with the mba 4 fun . great explanation.
  13. it does not need diagonals to bisect each other. simple pythagorus theorn.. will land you the ans c.
  14. so here is the time to step in ...... data given just that dia of circle is 10.n we need to find out AB+CD ?(two oppsite sides) st1) chords of same lenth coould be equidistant fom the centre... so st 1 gives too many posiibilties. st2) we have three free ends to travel around the periphery of circle.we can not determine the ab+cd? now taking 2 at a same time ....... as stmt 2 says ac is dia of the circle.... a well known fact is that any triangle in semi circle is right angle triangle .... so for even two possible points of 'd'for a given point 'a' we get same value of cd 6.and similarly ab is 8. aks
  15. hi aksay ... great debrief and most importantly ur constant input. great effort.
  16. hi erin all the explanation are simply marvelous. only enligtened ones can enlighten others. thanks. aks
  17. hi alex ... did u try any CAT how was ur scaled score? i am solving the cnly sets, for which we have expalanation. any more inputs.... aks
  18. radhik, thinkking, alex gmat, nisha raj n others ... let help each other.. Hi definitely sets and 1000 could be helpful though emphasis should be on the quality not on the quantity.1000 SC and CR(only the GMAT portion)is good question bank analyze the problem you get incorrect. only do the OG passage from the 1000 RC. My problem was that I floundered even after good preparation and felt shattered. Anyway here are few techniques to improve your verbal. hope you would find them useful. SC: 1. Though SC notes by spidey, sahil ,gayatri are great help but I would recommend to make your own notes. jot down the rule and most importantly examples down below. Memorize the rules with examples.Rules will not look scary in your own hand-writing. :) 2. if you find explanation for the rule ,do write it along side.then, you will never go incorrect . e.g. Several times I committed the mistake involving the rule of the number +v. but never since I have found out the explanation that ‘the number’ represent just one/certain number, so it has to be singular. Or another facet of the rule to substantiate as due to +noun and it modifies noun and works as adjective. Because of modifies verb. 3. for tackling sc, a) The trick I found most rewarding is “I will find out intent of the sentence i.e what the sentence want to convey.(even I have to read twice). You will find out that this technique is extremely handy in most difficult questions. b) Find out the errors by scanning VERTICALLY in all the options and cancel all the choices with those mistakes. c) Remember that there are two or more than two mistakes in the SC. Do not ponder over same mistake for long time. d) Almost all the choices could be grammatically correct but not when read in conjunction with the non underlined part. e) If you have narrowed down to two choices takes few seconds more to read them back into the sentence. f) Do not try to overcorrect. 4. Most importantly keep a log of your errors as you definitely do not want to commit them again. RC: I am under training to read the passage interactively and reactively, trying to get the intent and the purpose of the author. Most importantly I should be able to support my choice from the passage, using one or two lines from the passage. CR: You can read the question or the stimulus, whichever suites you best please forget the advice of the expert it is you, who have to take the test. But just do one thing determine conclusion and premise of the argument. If there is no indicative word then the part you think is the conclusion put “therefore” in front of it and if you find it convincing then rest is premise. Please do not bother yourself to find out assumption, scope etc and overanalyze the argument. Now attack the options apply process of elimination. If you are left with 2 or 3 choices a quick glance at stimulus will help you to zero on the correct answer. For both RC & CR you are out to choose LEAST OBJECTIONABLE choice not THE BEST choice. Even a single word could spoil your answer choice. You know a bad player may become a good coach. Jokes apart. I sincerely hope that this could be any help to you. Comments are solicited even if you disagree. I would also like to know your strategy and your approach to achieve your aim. aks.
