"it" in B is not clear, in C, there is no verb for "ice cape so reflective that ". Maybe this is elipse and verb is not need here.
-
where this sentence is from?
-
please explain this sentence correction
thangduong replied to ChandraXXX's topic in GMAT Sentence Correction
"advercate something" is correct. D is correct -
we need to compare noun, and so "like" is better. c is correct
-
explanation in OG sait that E is wrong because "although clause" must go with a main clause.
-
when we have to choose between noun and doing as a noun, choose noun. pls see the question "organism's trying" and "organism's attempt"
-
look the matter more simply. doing can be used as a noun and as a verb-participle. you need a sign to show that doing is used as a noun. the signs are "the", "a", or "of" here for paralellism, the sentence requires doing as a noun.

Pls, help me with "like" vs "as" in this forum like vs as in Q 122 and 104, OG11 thank you
-
this question dose not test us the use of "like" and "as" pls, read the explantion in OG10 but I am confused between when we should compare action and so use "as" and when we should compare nouns and so use "like" pls, explain why "like" in question 122 OG11 is right and "like" in question 104 OG11 is wrong. thank you
-
however, if my reason is correct, the 122 question in OG 11 is not correct.
-
the matter is that when we say "A do x in the same way B do y", we use "as" . if you want to say " A and B is similar in that they both do x" we you "like". here. "like expert" is correct because we say that "expert and computer are similar because they both can program"

when Ving or Ved is preceeded by comma, it is not modifying immidiate noun. it can modify other noun which is preceded but not touching it or it can modify preceded clause. However, when Ving or Ved modifie a clause it should precede that clause not follow the clause.

"wide of " is not idiom here. B and E left in most SC questions, ETS test us to choose between "that clause" as object or "of noun" as object. the logic is normally "that clause" as object. it is logic the say that "the black know that the figures show" and not logic to say that "the black know the figures". cut off the noun modifier, here, relative clause, to see whether noun as object is logic
-
doble comparison require "as...as" and "more...than" .we can not ellipse the second "as" C is more logic than A
-
'if not" is more logic than "likely" inhere
-
check grammar error before check meaning error. E is right
-
remember, check basic grammar before check meaning. C is only choice which has no pronoun reference ambuguity.

"with phrase" can modify a word or a clause. when it modify a word it can touch or detouch(free modifier) that word. when it modify a clause it is adverbial. "with phrase" can be "absolute phrase". absolute phrase is a case of many in which "with phrase" is an adverbial.

I am very happy to discuss questions from OG. I thing this is standard questions. if we properly understand them, we get 700 already. other questions for me is not good. in discussion here, each person dose not need to give a choice. we need only give ideas because our poupose is to get knowlege, not to make a choice. if someone has not go to the end, it is ok. it is ok to give only 1 idea. I want our discussion has better quality. Thank you, friends. pls, explain, why each of other choices is wrong.

"risk of doing" is idiomatic

Gprep : Unlike many United States cities
thangduong replied to Gmater-1's topic in GMAT Sentence Correction
E is wrong because "many cities have a river (in common)" is not logic. D is right -
the meaning here is that " nuclear fusion power as nuclear reactor dose" I wish you explain fully the difference between, "like you, I speak English" and " I speak English as you" the first means "we are similar in that we speak English" the second " I speak in the way you speak" what is the difference

"with..." is free modifier which modify Bihar. the phrase stand far from the word it modify and is call "free modifyer". this is the point here. "which " in E is wrong because if "which" refer to 111usd, "it" refers to "111usd" ilogically. I think we should understand questions in OG properly. do not try to do many questions. I am happy with the discussion on OG Questions. I see many person post the bad questions. this destroy our study. good luck
