  1. If you take the test in a prometric test center then they won't allow you to prepare or write anything during the untimed sections (like breaks, during direction time) in your scratch paper.
  2. Wow you will be the envy of a lot of toefl test takers with a perfect score in your speaking
  3. Goto YouTube and search notefull and you will see the videos about speaking and writing
  4. Great scores! I'm sure you will get that listening part soon. I suggest you go to test center early so that you will be the first one to take the reading and listening. This will give you less destruction from others.Ets don't rescore those section because they are objective exams which means they really have a right ang wrong answers unlike the speaking and writing section which are subjective which means the raters are responsible in evaluating whether a response is good or not.Again good luck on your next exam and do go to the exam early so you can do the 2 sections right away.
  5. That's a unique situation. Maybe if you post the name of the centre you took the exam then maybe someone who also have takeN the exam there could reply.

    Hi All

listen to all ouligrove post in youtube for listening... for example: but he has more examples
  7. If you are looking for example response then the official toefl book by ets has some samples with scores but those are in accurate I think. Just read the rubics on what is their criteria to get the score of 4.However, I would dis agree with teacher toefl Corey that there are no actual questions release in the web. If you go to YouTube The videos of ouliogroove are real test questions... he posted that it is from a book he used when he was tutoring in Korea. I just don't know if what are the scores of the sample responses. The sample responses are too perfect so maybe they are scored 4.

    Hi All

There is no option for you to write your essay on the paper. You need to write your essay directly using the computer.
  9. as far as I know, ETS won't send negative reports to your school; however, if ETS thinks that you have violated their rules and regulations then probably they won't let you take the exam again... I think that's the worst scenario especially if the school only allow ETS and not other English exams for you to complete your requirement. My only question is... why did you write on the table? you can write on the paper that the test center has given you
  10. is that not what I have stated in my post?.... "when a test taker gets 3 passages then there would be 9 listenings(3 coversations & 6 lectures).... or if the test taker gets 5 reading passages then the test taker would get 6 listenings (2 conversations & 4 lectures)." source: Class that Chris (toefltestsuccess) "In the reading section, there may be four or five readings and from 36-70 questions. The reading section may vary in length from 60 to 100 mins. In the listening section, there may be additional conversations or lectures from 34-50 questions. The listening section may last from about 50 minutes to about 90 minutes." Source: the complete guide to the toefl test by bruce rogers; preface xiv I didn't say examinees would get both because that would be too cruel for ETS to do... Toefl Ibt is hard enough and getting both long (reading&listening) sections would be devastating.
  11. toefl corey & Tino, Sorry if I have given the wrong info. I am just giving based on my experience and also from the Class that Chris (toefltestsuccess) has given. I know that test takers don't know if they are given 3 or 5 readings but what I know is the time given to finish the test is the same on all test takers. So, if ETS don't do what Chris has stated in his slides then this will affect weather the examinees can finish or not those 2 sections. That's why I believed on what Chris had taught me because it makes sense that ETS gives equal opportunity (time wise) to all examiners. So Again sorry if I have given the wrong info.
  12. hi, if you get 3 readings you will have 9 listening... 5 readings -6 listening...hope that helps
  13. 1. your response will be too long if you do that but you can... From my experience I can't because the time won't allow me... so stick with one then give your reason/s why you prefer. 2. yes, for the 2nd question in the essay and the 1st two questions in the speaking sections (are kinda similar) and for the list of the topics: http://www.ets.org/Media/Tests/TOEFL/pdf/989563wt.pdf
  14. don't stress yourself about the images... in the listening part . listen to what the speakers are talking about. if it is important then it will be emphasize. even if a person, a place or something is important it will be shown... try to check the other books. i don't even see images in the listening section sometimes ( the images i often see is of a teacher and a student ... 2 students, or a class)... more often it is a word that they emphasize and shown... just make sure you take down important notes... so taking notes is very important but don't write everything... I think if you watch American sitcoms, shows, news and you were able to understand then you won't have any problem with the listening section.
  15. The untimed section is in the listening section when you are listening to the conversation so after the conversation when it's time for you to answer the timer will again start. So if you got 6 listening section then you have 6 untimed section for you to listen. And your right the directions are not also timed but there is no sample tasks. The sample tasks is with the toefl cbt but I don't know if there is still sample tasks for you to practice on the toefl cbt. For toefl bit there is no sample tasks the only sample task is how to change the volume.Hope this answers your answer
  16. hI Are you taking the exam in your country or where you are a citizen? If not then a passport is a requirement. school ID sometimes is not allowed... Drivers license would be okay again passport is the best so if I were you I will apply for passport or get a passport right away.
  17. From my experience this type of questions are not what really you do prefer personally but which is the choice that you can defend better. we have different reasons and the problem if we ask people about their points is that we are asking more confusion in our mind ... All you really need is 2 points if you know 2 points then just do that... then add a personal reason why... "marrying young is better economically .... when my friend got married young ...(this happened)" second.... anyway over think of points... if you know 2 points then that is enough don't add others opinion which you can't defend.
  18. hi color hair and glasses don't really change your appearance but if you had a face-change or some cosmetic changes in your face that people might not recognize you then you might have a problem. All you need to have is two valid ID a passport is the best ID and another government issued ID. Passport ID (or any government issued ID) don't usually have a photo with a photo with glasses so that takes care of your glasses problem. Hair color/length don't really matter i have my ID and when I went for my exam sometimes I have a long hair... a shave ...or another color of hair but that didn't bother the proctors as long as you are still recognizable as that person. again Passport would answer all your ID problem. Hope that helps
  19. you can take rest anytime however the time will not stop so it is really up to you if you take a rest and lose some time that you might need to finish the sections of the test. The 10 mins break between the 2 test don't affect the test time of the sections. If you never click next then you won't go to the next question or if your time is up in one section and you didn't click next it will go to the next section right away.
  20. Hi katm, I am just looking at your score in the speaking section. If you got 24 there is a great possibility that it might increase However your score is 22 and from my experience 22 will never increase most often it will go down or maybe stay but won't go up (specially as you said your speaking during the test was terrible). I am just saying that maybe your best bet right now to get 100 is your writing. But saying that. it is still up to you if you feel that your score in speaking has a better chance to go up. So it is really your choice. The problem in doing both is that one might go up; the other might go down (so you will end up with the same score) and you will be paying more... So It is really up to you? Ask yourself which of the two sections you did better and have a better chance in getting 1 point increase. If you don't think that one of them would help then maybe just register again for another exam.
  21. Hi katm, you did great in your writing. If I were in your shoes and decides to get re score I will re score my writing maybe the score might get 1 point higher. However there is also a chance that it might become lower... You need to remember this if ever your score will change ...higher or lower then you will get refund for your fee. You will only get charge if your score will be the same. Your speaking is not worth doing a rescore. Hi Stym, I know that it is expensive but like what I've written above you will get charge if they find that your score is the same; you won't get charge if your score change (lower/higher) and examiners have only 2 sections to choose to re score (written/speaking) anyway Goodluck to both of you whatever decisions you will go for.
  22. You can't do anything about your Reading and listening scores because those are objective test and what you get is your real scores... You have a high speaking score... What do you think about your writing? is it good? if yes then have that re scored... but if you think that your writing isn't good then no choice but to take the exam again... Your only hope is your writing... so again if you are comfortable with your essays then go for re scoring. Goodluck
  23. Thanks Corey. Sorry for my comment about the robot response. I think it is better to say that our response should be like a tape recording... in which test takers should be familiar with some words that is used in Toefl IBT. for example: for notefull... for Q1 an Q2... the format will go--- in my view... for toefl corey for Q1... He will recommend test takers to think of an experience and talk about it... Q2 - test takers can use "although" to say something about the choice they don't prefer... then say I prefer the other choice....for these reasons and use word like "better, more comfortable..." for Chris (tino)... for Q1 and Q2 it is like They are all good teachers/ and their methods are great is just how comfortable you use them and if you can reply to any questions like tape recording with their method then you are in your way getting 26 or more!!! I highly recommend: Toefl Corey as a mentor/tutor specially to those who always get 23. I think that his method is great. I learned a lot from him. He uses skype and the book of Bruce rogers To teach Toefl IBT. Chris (Tino)--- if you are also in need of good scores in other sections like reading and listening and writing Notefull---- if you have time to practice his method diligently. They all have different strong points... but after, being their student I saw more of their similarities than differences... So you can try anyone of them but use the method that you are comfortable with... They are all here to help us get the score we need. But they can't do anything if we won't practice. So practice practice practice... To knok!!! I started the same time as you. since TSE days lol (I just have different Name before)... anyway, you become one of my motivators, a good help... I saw your frustrations and saw your success... Thank you
  24. Good luck on your rescore... Maybe a rater who is in a better mood will give you a higher rating.!!!
  25. IKU I was a toefl taker... But thanks to this forum I got 26 in my speaking... I did attend some classes that was given by TINO, also did some tutor class by Corey, watch Notefull&ouligroove videos, so I did a lot of test practice and also I did the exam numerous times... here is what I know... we test takers: 1. we think that our everyday english (specially those living in an English Speaking Country) is enough but in reality it is not... we need to answer the toefl questions as the toefl raters wants us to answer... It may be robotic, unreal but we need to answer how they want us to answer. 2. We tend to too fast or too slow... We need to record ourselves and evaluate our speed so that the raters can understand us and we can respond to the questions in the time allotted. 3. We change our strategies too many time (specially those who have taken the exam many times like me)... we should try to practice and respond to what we are comfortable with. For example if we like Notefull's way then we should just practice how he instruct us... because if we change every time we will become more confused. 4. Stop Blaming ETS... because when we start blaming them ... we are already have negative thoughts in our mind so how can we think of getting 26 if we think we will again be thinking of receiving 23. (BLAME THEM AFTER YOU PASSED THE TOEFL... NOW THAT i PASSED MY SPEAKING SECTION... i CAN SAY THEY ARE CRAZY BUNCH OF RATERS!!! HAHAHAHAHA) MY english is still the same it did not improve and maybe it is worst than before nut I passed so who is loughing now lol And too all test takers... Good luck and I know you can do it... during the exam believe inyourself.... don't think of 23 but 26...and smile in the photo session ... when you start the day right you can answer the questions better
