  1. Is this marketing specific ? Is there a similar source for Operations Management?
  2. Thanks for clearing that up. I really appreciate all the views that have been posted by you and the others. Getting into a top program next fall is my number 1 priority. I am reconsidering taking the GRE but historically scores have gown down whenever the format of a standard test has changed. That makes me wonder if retaking the GRE is the best strategy since it can hurt my chances more. Nevertheless, it can prove to be a risk worth taking in case I end up getting a good verbal score hence improving my chances of getting in to a well known program.
  3. @rsaylors. This is a forum where everyone is allowed to express their views in a proper manner. I would appreciate it if you could post respectfully. No one is forcing you to read or reply to this thread.
  4. @soheyl. I was referring to business schools' OM programs and not IE programs. Seems like some schools accept only the GRE for this area and a few others prefer the GRE over the GMAT. Below are a few examples I was referring to. A few others state that there is no min test score and that its only a component of your application. But then again the average v for those is about 550. MIT Sloan - "Those applying to Operations Management should submit GRE scores only". "There is no minimum GMAT or GRE test score required, although the faculty are most interested in applicants with the highest quantitative scoring."Wharton (OM)- "Although there are no absolute thresholds for admission, students who are admitted generally score on the quantitative GRE or GMAT in the 98th percentile or higher, have a high GPA from a prestigious undergraduate institution (e.g. 3.5 or higher out of 4.0), three outstanding recommendations from respected academics and well written personal statements." Stanford - "Operations, Information & Technology: the GRE is preferred, although the GMAT will be accepted."Tepper - "The Tepper School of Business faculty who review applications use the test scores as one component in the overall evaluation of an applicant's file. For the more technical areas, a high quantitative score sends a positive signal about the applicant's ability to handle math."Hopefully I get enough time to prepare for retaking the GRE ( between my full time job and the new GRE format). Else I might just give it a shot with my present scores.
  5. Thanks for the comments guys. I am still not convinced if retaking the GRE is the best option ( esp considering the time and the resources involved). Most schools websites stress on the Q score and there is nothing about the V score. Hopefully they will also look at the fact that I am an international student.
  6. Can anyone on this forum share information about the PhD Operations Management program at Olin Business School ?I tried to look up their website but it doesn't have a lot of information on its competitiveness in placement and the recent placements don't look very impressive either. If anyone who is attending Olin or knows more about it can enlighten us, that would be great!
  7. Agreed. But would an education from a top US public college with A grades in English and Communication Honors courses offset the verbal part ? The GRE score was a one day thing. I am hoping the committee looks at my transcript and the fact that I was a Teaching Assistant in school for 2 years.
  8. Would it be fair to say that a quantitative score of 800 can offset a verbal score of 420 for a phd in operations management and give one a chance at some of the top schools ? Obviously assuming that the gpa, lors and sop are very good.
  9. HI All, I have read some pretty interesting comments and views on this forum. I plan to pursue a PhD in Operations Management in fall 2012. I would like to get help in evaluating my profile and selecting target schools. I have an undergrad in Industrial Engineering from top 2 Industrial Engineering programs in the US. GPA was 3.81. I have have been working for 2 years now for a fortune 100 company in Global Supply Chain. My GRE scores are q:800, v:420, a:4.0. Completed undergrad in 3 1/2 yrs with honors. Worked all 3 summers for 3 different fortune 500 companies while I was at school. Not sure what schools to target with my profile. Any suggestions/comments ?
