  8. Sorry if this is earlier than usual but I hope to generate some comments regarding my profile and my chances of being admitted in some schools. PROFILE: Type of Undergrad/Grad: BSc/MSc Applied Econ/Econ (private Southeast Asian university) Undergrad/Grad GPA: 3.3/3.2 overall, about 3.6 for Econ courses GRE: will take by May 2011 Math Courses: (from Econ Dept.) Research Experience: undergrad thesis, grad seminar paper, 5 months as an RA in an economic think tank doing forecasting work and some research for corporate clients, currently working as a full-time RA in my country's central bank. Teaching Experience: none Research Interests: at this point it would be macro and monetary SOP: haven't thought about it yet Concerns: Low GPA (Basically, I slacked off during my first year at college but things turned around after my second year. There were many courses were I was at the top of the class but I didn't receive the highest possible grade. I hope this can be remedied by the LORs). Other: I'll be needing funding. Applying to: my plan is to apply to MPhil/MA programs in Australia (ANU, Melbourne), Asia (HKUST, CUHK, U of Tokyo, NUS), Canada (McGill, SFU, Carlton), and Europe (Tinbergen, Tilburg, Warwick). Hopefully I can perform well and then proceed to the PhD program after. Should I drop a school from my list (application fees are quite expensive so I'm planning to limit my choices to about 10-12 schools)? Can anyone suggest other European programs were I have a decent chance of being admitted with funding? Do I have a chance in a top 50 US program?
