  1. @XanthusARES Hey, mate Thanks for the reply. Well, the thing is, at least here in Latin America, there is only PhD in Mgmt, you can do it on marketing, but a PhD in marketing doesn't exist, that's just the concentration. But if you ask me right now, I wanna do research about Time Series in Marketing. I know that isn't a mainstream topic, but some schools might be interested. I'll try to get to the 700's next time, for sure.
  2. @taxPhD Thanks for the reply. Really helpful. Well, my goals are probably staying as a professor in the US teaching some courses a semester and doing a little bit of research. I know my score's low. So I was planning on applying to universities like U of Texas Arlington, U of South Florida, U Arkansas, but I don't know... And my concern is that if I take the GMAT, I won't be able to study that much as time is really short with the deadlines and all; in most of the programs I've checked it is said that GMAT is preferred but they take the GRE as well. Let me know what you think
  3. @evergreen Thanks for the advice. So just to clarify, you're telling me that I should re-take the exam even though I wanna apply to colleges like UTexasArlington, USouthFlorida, TexasTech, UArkansas? And I guess I wasn't that clear with my interests. If you ask me for a topic right now, I'd say price elasticity via econometric models.
  4. @evergreen Thanks for replying, I'm not sure about the conversion either, it's 77/100 in the original numbers. I submitted my thesis in the Journal of Forecasting. Yes, quant marketing. I've gone far respecting to math: Fourier series, integrals with complex numbers, integrals from -infinite to +infinite. Exactly that's why I put them as my "dream" schools. In marketing, i'm interested in validity, reliability, generality of data. So you would recommend me some schools like U of Kentucky or Purdue?
  5. Please recommend me some schools!!!!!!!!! Name: El Matador --------- Test Scores (GMAT/GRE): 158Q, 152V, = 310. Awaiting for AWA (Note: It often helps a lot more if you list the percentiles each of your raw/composite scores are associated with) Undegrad GPA: 3.1 BS in electronics engineering in Guatemala (Best school for engineering in my country) Graduate GPA: 3.8 Master in Management Tulane University - MBA UFM (Guatemala) dual degree Research Experience: 1 year being a member of an Econometrics Group in which thesis are discussed. My thesis for master's degree was submitted for publication but still no answer Teaching Experience:1 year being Teaching Assistant for Calculus undergrad-level Work Experience: 1 year in a Central American company as tech strategist, 1 year as a trainee in Microsoft, just started as Marketing Mananger for 13 countries in Latin America for Microsoft Concentration Applying to: Management, probably marketing or econometrics Number of programs planned to apply to: 8-12 Dream Schools: NYU, Pittsburgh, UPenn What made you want to pursue a PhD: This maniac thing that I got for doing research. Also, I dig standing in front of people teaching stuff Concerns you have about your profile: Low GRE, relatively young (I'm 25), I don't know what to expect with my profile, relatively short experience in research. PLEASE TELL ME WHICH UNIVERSITIES would give a serious chance. Thanks, mates!
  6. [h=1]What universities do you recommend me for applying for PhD in management (probably marketing)[/h] Wadup, fam? So here's my profile: BS electronics engineering in Guatemala, 3.1 GPA. Master in Management Tulane, 3.8 GPA. GRE 152V 158Q. Relevant experience 3 years (1 year working in Microsoft as trainee and now Mrktn Manager for 13 countries in Microsoft). I got my master's thesis submitted for publication and I've been teaching assistant before. I know this falls short for MIT, but which universities you reckon would give me a serious chance? Thanks
  7. Hey everyone! I'm new here and I really could use your help. Well, I just switched from eng to MBA. My passion is Economics and I really want to study that. I chose MBA, because the university has a double degree option in which I can have a degree from a Guatemalan university and an American university (I'm guatemalan). But after I'd like to apply for a master's in Economics. Do you think that's a good plan? Cos I'm only using this MBA as a "bridge" for the ME. And also, I'd like some financial aid for the ME, do you think that's possible? Any information will be appreciated and I'm willing to answer any question. Thank you
