If you are so sensetive to feedback, why post at all? Why don't you put the topic's heading as "I am posting my profile. I know there is nothing wrong with it. I don't like advice"!! Well, if you are sure that you want to be in the manufacturing related field post - MBA, then MMM is a better option. You get two degrees at the cost of one(MBA + MS). I spoke to an Indian MMM student yesterday, and according to him, some companies put a premium to hire MMM students. But before applying, do bear in mind that there are only 50-60 seats available in the MMM versus the 400 odd seats in the MBA. Btw, you need to have a manufacturing background if you are thinking of applying. GmatBong, How does Kellogg treat younger applicants? Are they anywhere comparable to H/S? What is Wharton's take on this issue?

Satya, you just arent your GMAT score + College you studied in + GPA. There is much more to the application process. What are your hobbies? What are your interests? What are your achievements apart from making to REC, Trichy? Tell us more about it! For all you know maybe you can get into one of the top 10 B Schools..:)

I recently had been to a reception hosted by Chicago GSB in my hometown. There was this alumnus who said that each B-School has its own character and adviced all the of us, who were attending the reception, to check before enrolling whether our character and that of the B-School match. When I asked him about the ways in which I could find out "the character" of the B-School without actually visiting it, he said that this can be done by talking to the alumni. He said that after some experience, you'll actually know if you are talking to a Wharton graduate/ a Chicago Graduate / Stanford Graduate. Is this true?????

Hello GMATBong, I shall be applying for the fall 2007 program. So I have one year more to go before I start applying. I thought the maximum number of schools that I could apply for is 6. So, I am a little curious as to how someone would manage to apply to 10 schools. Do you split schools round wise or apply for R-1 to all of them? Please tell me more about this. Hey Amit, I had been to a reception hosted by Chicago GSB last week. The Assistant Dean who had come over, told us not to worry about the conversion at all. She said that they know how difficult it is to score high percentages in India and they'll do the conversion for the applicant, by comparing the applicant's % with other similar applicants' %s - both past and present. If I were you, I would fill in --NA--. You will be sending them the transcripts anyway; so why bother? - Maelstrom

Hi Mariachi, I have heard a lot about Said. But not much about Warwick. Cranfield and Manchester are supposed to be OK. But I am not a pro myself. I think you should post this Q on BusinessWeek Forums. There are a lot of knowledgable people there who are willing to help you. I agree with Chimni. You say you hit the 700s in the PP before working on OG. Your actual score should have been there abouts. You say you are weaker in Quant than compared to Verbal. But your Quant seems to have remained consistent and your verbal has dropped down. So either you were over confident with the verbal part ( believe me, this can happen. I committed this folly ) or you were plain tired when you were approaching the end of the test. If it was the former then when you retake, everything should be fine. If it was the latter then you need to build up your test taking stamina by taking more tests. Nothing to worry about. You'll do well the next time. Best of luck!

Hey Jax, I feel that 690 is enough. The average GMAT scores of the top 5 .i.e.. if you consider H/S/W/C/M as the top 5, ranges between 711 and 695. So you are in the ballpark. Being a US citizen, I think you have an advantage. Retake the test only if you are confident that you can bump up the score by atleast 30 - 40 points. Instead of wasting time, I would suggest you strenghten other parts of your application. For example, your extra - curriculars seem to be your weak point. Yes, granted that you have been a teaching assistant and a research assistant, but do they qualify as extra - curriculars? I am not sure...Of course, I might be wrong as I come from the other side of the planet. Other than that everything else seems fine. :)
