  1. Best to try for a higher GRE score even if it means waiting for a year. It'll be worth the wait.
  2. 1. Write to 5-6 professors stating your intent to apply for a PhD and mention about your research interests in brief. Also mention any projects/research you did with them or any classes you attended. Schedule an appointment to speak with them on phone or if possible, an in-person meeting. Wait patiently for them to reply. Contact their secretary about a week later if you don't receive a reply. Send a reminder email to them about 7-10 days later after your first email. 2. After the appointment has been scheduled, send them your academic transcripts, a draft version of your statement of purpose and a short resume so that the conversation would be meaningful. 3. Choose only those professors who know you well. Speak with 5-6 professors and convince 4-5 professors to write letters for you. Stay in touch with them throughout the application process and beyond. 4. Just keep re-writing and editing the statement till you feel comfortable. Most often, it'll continue till a week or two before the application deadline. Get it reviewed by your referees and others only after you've put sufficient effort yourself. Also, only incorporate those suggestions that you feel would actually help your statement. Good Luck!

  5. I am on the waitlist for Marketing Quant program. I wanted to know more about the waitlist movement. Does anyone know if the admitted students have accepted the offer? Or if they are planning to reject/withdraw. Also, does anyone know how many of us are on the waitlist? Can somebody also share experience of Yale Marketing Quant waitlist from previous years.
  6. Has anyone heard from CMU (Tepper) for Marketing Quant. Saw on gradcafe that they have sent rejections for Marketing CB. Not sure about Quant.
  7. Quant Marketing Applicant here. I am also still waiting to hear from Berkeley (Haas) & CMU (Tepper). Apart from those, I have received 2 official rejections (Stanford & Wharton), 1 waitlist (Yale) & 4 implicit rejections (NYU, Harvard, Columbia, Duke - they have offered admits/interviews to others as seen on gradcafe - they might be just waiting to send out a rejection to me at a later date).
  8. am waitlisted at Yale for Marketing Quant. have heard that they gave out 4 offers in Marketing Quant. Can someone tell me how does the waitlist usually moves? I haven't been told where I am on the waitlist as of now.
  9. I wanted to know whether undergrad grades would have any bearing on placements. A marketing department had admitted me with a good funding package but their University wants to lower this package because my undergrad grades in the last 2 years were not up to the mark. The department is trying to make a case for me. However, I wanted to know what would be the impact of undergrad grades when I enter job market.
  10. has anyone received an offer from Texas A&M for the marketing (cb) track
  11. Even I received this. I'm a marketing cb applicant. I think its just a normal mail. I am not drawing any conclusions from this.
  12. In my case, the email made it clear that all the candidates will first go through an assignment, and then a few will be interviewed. Finally, they will give students an offer/wait-list.
