Can't you enroll in a Master to take PhD level courses? What's your GRE quant score?
Forget about applying this year. Prepare yourself to apply next year.
I ask this question for a theory professor once. There is some basic knowledge and the rest is pick as you go.
By base knowledge i mean: You need to know well Linear Algebra and Real Analysis, and you need some introduction to Optimization, Measure Theory, Functional Analysis and maybe some Stochastic Process.
I have a different question and don't want to create a new topic about the same subject. I'm international student by the way.
Before any prep, i make a simulation and get around 162Quant. What's the average boost of GRE by studying for it first time? Can i expect something like >5 points?
Linear Algebra, Multivariable Calculus, Differential Equations, Probability, Mathematical Statistics, Real Analysis, Calculus in Manifolds.
You need to know at least this. If you don't know, learn. If possible, take courses in this subjects.
bro, stay 1 year more in college and make a hell out of math courses. Only two courses in math and then jump intro Micro and Analysis during PhD is suicide
LOL at Simon and Blume. It's really too weak.
Algebra Linear - Hoffman
Calculus - Apostol
Analysis - Rudin
Differential Equations - Gandolfo
That's four books are a good introduction to mathematics
